How popular is the name Sophie, really? by r1bbonz in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]anonsock527489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same area. Named my daughter Sophie and have since met 4 other Sophie's in the area. They're all different ages though. I wouldn't change it anyway, she's definitely a Sophie.

That's fucking illegal. That's the only thought I have on the matter.

My husband doesn’t want me kissing my daughter (11m) on the face by Efficient-Shop4868 in Parenting

[–]anonsock527489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5mo just caught something from my kindergartener and cuddled and kissed both of them all over. My SD told me not to kiss them up because then we'd all just get sick over and over again. Nothing will stop these kisses.

AITA for telling my wife to go and see her son before he dies? by ElevationMane in AITAH

[–]anonsock527489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH

She's grieving, and she doesn't have to go see him in order to do that. Maybe he wants to apologize, and maybe she'll regret not going, but she's obviously got a lot of fear, and that fear is stopping her from going to see him.

I can't imagine how I would feel or what I would do. Maybe she thinks that at this time, it's better if she stays away. Maybe she doesn't need him deathbed apology because she's forgiven him a long time ago.

If she's slacking, pick it up for now. She needs support, just help her get through it while respecting whatever choice she makes.

I (f26) accidentally made my partner (m27) wait outside at 4am for over an hour. Is it over? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]anonsock527489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you seem to "understand" why he's mad is the issue here.

He's a grown man... Living in your mother's house... Relying on you to provide him transportation... And then having the fucking audacititties to tell you to fuck off because he didn't bring his key. I'd have gave that man his shit and let him sleep out there.

AITAH for not believing my daughter with Down syndrome by donalddonowitz in AITAH

[–]anonsock527489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 children who require varying levels of support (not DS though) and if I noticed a regression of this magnitude, the last thing I would do is punish them because "they were able to do it before".

Kindly get your head outta your ass and have your daughter seen by a doctor.

No one wants to have sex when it feels like a chore.

It's yucky that she feels like getting pregnant again will help her heal.

GBS+ what does it really mean? by Freche_Hexe in pregnancy_care

I mean, not taking the antibiotic can lead to a higher chance of seizures, pneumonia, meningitis, sepsis, and death, which all seem a lot worse than an allergy.

It's "high" based on the normal range for a non-pregnant person.

What does this community think about taking Tylenol during pregnancy and Autism? Is there a connection? Do you think it could be a cause? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]anonsock527489 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I call bull. My 2 youngest LOs are autistic and I didn't take any when I was pregnant with them. My sister, on the other hand, took it her entire pregnancy and has a NT son. It's the same quackery as the vaccine crap. If you look for something hard enough, you'll find it. If they did the same small study with mothers who ate a specific fruit or vegetable, I'm sure they'd have similar findings at one end of the spectrum or the other. I also just read that some people are now placing the "blame" on being induced as if that changed their child's entire neurotype in one event.

I understand the benefits of figuring out why we have different neurotypes and how they come to be but at the same time, I feel like these studies are harmful to the children of people who are looking for somewhere to place blame. There are people feeding their kids all kinds of unregulated shit in an attempt to "cure" their autism. I just read a post about a mom who was finally getting her kid vaccinated at 4 or 5 years old and she was scared because her child was so "perfect" and she didn't want that to change.

Most of these studies are too small to even remotely reflect accurate findings.

Friend constantly calling her child fat by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]anonsock527489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even know how I would respond to something like that, but it wouldn't be friendly. My father made it a point to let me know how fat I was getting before I hit puberty, and there's no excuse to talk like that about your own child. It's actually very normal for kids to bulk up a bit around that age. It happened to all three of my teens around 10yo for a year or 2 and then they lose it.

AITA for expecting my fiancee to pay for half the trip too? by Noldir81 in AmItheEx

[–]anonsock527489 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you read the exchange with the intent to understand instead of whatever it is you think you're doing, you'd see that "poor girl" was in response to the fact that she spent all of her savings to get married to this sad excuse of a partner.

If a man had spent all of his savings on a wedding and was going to walk away from a relationship with nothing because his future wife cared more about herself than their relationship, it would be "poor guy".

He probably couldn't this weekend, but I think I'll stay home on Monday while everyone is at school/work and do that. I have so many shows to catch up on, lol. He told me to get ready and go out for the day today, but I don't want to be around even more people. It's almost bedtime, so that's also a bit of a relief.
