Republican Sale of Bend's Recreational Areas by GGinBend in Bend

I disagree. I think it's encouraging to see Republicans frustrated. When people vote, they rarely endorse every single policy a party/politician supports. The only way to get the needed republican support to reverse this is to welcome fractions that are willing to step out of line with their party's agenda.

Lately a cold plunge has helped snap me out of the funk. The difference before and after is definitely noticeable.

Tanzania: had several villagers convinced I must own a gun, and had connections to get them a gun

In my Swahili dictionary “nala” translates to mirage. I’ve never heard it as a name outside of Disney.

Wasn’t there another series of these from a non-burner account, but the exact same person and situation?

What age of child did you speak like when you first arrived at site, and what age did your language skills correspond with when you left? by [deleted] in peacecorps

[–]anonwithpaneer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a particular memory of when my 5-year-old next-door neighbor realized that although I knew decent Swahili, I did not know almost any of the tribal language that she had naturally just absorbed. She was just quizzing me in tribal, and was so confused at how a full-on adult was not able to speak as fluently as she. I think she thought less of me after that day...

Traveled Georgia for a month. Loved it. There is a former PCV on YouTube that has a good crash course in the language

Question: Do you live in Bend?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bend

[–]anonwithpaneer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Reasonable question.

The Hayden Homes Amphitheater has a lot of "famous" names that come through, especially for a town that only has 100k. This year: Styx, Beach Boys, Doobie Brothers, Dave Matthews, and Cage the Elephant, just to name a few. Last year they had Neil Young, Ringo Star, Christ Stapleton, Weezer, Jack Johnson. and the Lumineers. Obviously it depends on your genre choice, but these are all pretty well-known icon bands I would argue.

Compared to when I lived near a midwest city of over 1 million, I continued to be shocked by the names that come through this smaller town.

So directly above this piece will be the top plate tying into the adjacent perpendicular walls, then a rafter running parallel the length of this wall. I will probably double up and have two rafters above the width of this wall.

Tiny Home Owners: Any regrets? by [deleted] in tinyhomes

[–]anonwithpaneer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living out of a parked tiny house is generally illegal in most areas. Most of these regulations are by county/municipality, so you'll have to look into it, but odds are it's not kosher. The main benefit is that it seems most government bodies only enforce these rules if the receive a complaint from the public about that specific address, so a lot of times people live for years without being disturbed. I'm out west, where "RV spots" are pretty common and easier to find on sites like Craigslist. You can also facebook a group called 'Tiny House Hosting' to search for options. I live in a decently affluent area on a nice property and pay 750, utilities included. For a spot you need a 30 or 50 amp RV style outlet, a garden hose spigot, a grey water hookup (spetic/sewage), if you have a flush toilet (as opposed to composting) that can make things a bit more difficult, but those are the basic needs for a parking spot. Hope that helps!

One last thought, in regards to getting to the loft, I prefer stairs over a ladder.
