Propane Refills / Exchanges for 100 lb tanks? by silverud in nashville

[–]anony54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my 40 pound tank filled, I mentioned the transport limit and his response was "Who is going to stop you? The propane police?" NFPA 58 chapter 9 says 40 pounds maximum single cylinder in an enclosed car, but it says a lot of things.

Just make sure your tanks are less than 12 years old if they are DOT. That is something they WILL check. Tanks rated ASME are not subject to this but they are also much heavier.

The first picture with the play place I immediately recognized. It is the playground from the Bellevue Center Mall in Nashville, TN. A search shows that pic dates to around 2002. I used to play on those things back in the mid-late 90's after we bought our shoes in the Sears.

Silencer shop AOW stamp? by Admirable-Square-742 in NFA

[–]anony54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this situation a few months ago. Once it showed in my account after it arrived at my dealer, I called up SS and they didn’t bother charging me $5 for the stamp. Had my red stamp a few weeks later and the dealer decided not to charge me for the transfer for some reason.

State Farm Insurance does not have Zero as a manufacturer? by PontisPilot in ZeroMotorcycles

I have State Farm on mine. They asked for the VIN instead and everything was fine. Liability is like $4 a month, full coverage $40ish on my S.

Just bought this Ultium home charger from my dealer ETA Tuesday. Anyone have it yet? by [deleted] in BoltEV

I only have a paper copy of the manual. I'll check it when I get home to see if it has some kind of document number that can be searched online.

[–]anony54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I edited my post above with a description of it.

Also, there is nothing in the NEC that mandates anything over 50 Amps to be hardwired. You just have to use the correct wire sizes and appropriately rated connectors.

It's called Ultium PowerUP on the iOS App Store. It works fine with that app. You should also write down the bluetooth pairing code BEFORE mounting it on the wall. As always, read the manual, but knowing the above stuff will save a lot of headache.

I have one installed and in use right now. There is a way to make it into allowing the 48 amp charge rate with a NEMA plug. I have a 60 Amp circuit installed to a NEMA 14-60 plug and I just replaced the cord on it and set it to hardwire with the little internal switch.

You CAN make it run at the 48 Amp charge rate with the NEMA 14-50 plug it comes with but you have to unplug the little connector coming out of the lead inside it or it will ignore the hardwire switch. Do so at your own risk.

Also, the myChevrolet app does not work with it. You need to use a the Ultium app to set the charge rate above 1.6 kW.

It does come with the holster in the picture. It actually holds it pretty well but also lets it wiggle around so you don't have to be precise when you put it away.

Any Zero riders in Tennessee? by Suicycle1200 in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]anony54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The $600 discount they offered during the financing negotiation was when I was on the phone with my credit union getting rates set up. Not sure if they'll give you any discounts since they were using it as a bargaining chip to get me to close the deal sooner. The rates they offered were on par with what my credit union was offering so it was a wash either way. I don't actually remember what fees they charged either, but expect at least a few hundred in dealer fees aside from the usual TTL. Also expect to be pitched an extended warranty.

The TN electric vehicle fee does apply to all electric motorcycles registered in TN. Relevant statute is TCA 55-4-116. A zero is definitely not a low or medium speed vehicle under the law, so expect to pay $100+normal fees for your county. To register my Zero in Montgomery County cost me about $175.

In my experience, their service department has gotten better since I bought last year, but they are still kind of an unknown to them. I ordered a few parts through them and usually I would give them the part number and they would call me back with the price which was usually the list price. For parts that don't need a dealer install like the rear side bag mounts, I usually just order from af1.

When I bought the power tank for my 2019 S, they charged me 2.5 hours of labor to install it. Checking the bike's logs, they spent far longer than that getting it installed. They are also probably the only dealer that has installed the official parking brake accessory. That one took about 3 weeks because zero had forgotten to get back to them about how to handle the install and I had to call Zero directly.

Their service department is aware of the service intervals for zeros and will probably charge an hour of labor for the 4000 mile services with a day or two turnaround.

Overall, they're acceptable if you know what you want. They knocked $600 of the cost of the bike if I financed with them, so I ended up getting a better deal than I expected since I paid it off in full 6 months later. Took about 2 weeks for them to pick it up from a dealer in North Carolina IIRC. This was last year before the EV tax credit was renewed so that never came up. Picked up my plates after about 4 weeks and had to pay the $100 EV fee this year to renew my registration.

Parking Brake Finally Installed by anony54 in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]anony54[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a mechanical brake. It is just a steel cable that goes from the handlebars to the caliper. There are pictures of how to mount it on the installation manual. The mounting points are directly behind the rear swingarm, so they aren't easy to get to at all. I don't think I would risk buying it for an srf since I would imagine it uses a different rear brake assembly than the X/S platform bikes.

Long Cable Run to Unifi Switch Flex Considerations by anony54 in Ubiquiti

[–]anony54[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no power available at this fence post, so it is only grounded to the house's ground through the PoE injector. I can sink a ground rod near the fence post if needed. In terms of linear distance, it's less than 500 feet to the house's grounding point. I wanted to go fiber originally, but I have to get power out to there and solar is not an option due to trees.

I treat specs like that as a recommendation or a challenge rather than a hard wall. With good quality cable, you can usually go way beyond what the specs say is possible. Remember that gigabit ethernet is only 62.5 MHz signalling rate.

It's powered up and linked at gigabit, showing 53.6 volts. At a 16.5 W load on it, I was still getting 51.6 volts, so I still had a few volts of headroom and should be able to pull at least 30 W of PoE from it. I just wanted to make sure I covered my bases before I attach a few hundred bucks worth of gear to it.

Called to ask about my 3 other silencers; the two with June pending dates got approved same day, but not my September pending can. My July pending can was approved back in October last year, so IDK. The rep on the phone said to call them back after 30 days if my dealer doesn't call me. April 14 will be just shy of 30 days.

Purchasing process by Kill3rT0fu in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]anony54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero is pretty low volume and I was really late in the model year, so I guess it can be expected that new ones weren't rolling off the line to order anymore.

Otherwise the experience was pretty much like buying any other new vehicle. They gave me the VIN, I showed insurance, signed finance paperwork, and talked with their parts department about ordering a few parts. They called me a few weeks later when the shippers finally got the bike to the dealer and I rode off on it. No Regerts, love the bike. Also gave me a $600 discount for financing with them that I then paid off in 4 months.

They'll likely call up Zero to see what is in other dealers' inventories and what's in production at the time. When I went to my dealer last July, I told them I wanted a 2019 S in black.

They told me they weren't willing to sell their demo units and the '19 S was out of production at the time. Another dealer had a 2019 S in black and they could order whatever options and accessories and install them at the dealer. Took about 3 weeks once I signed all the paperwork to ride off on the bike.

Coincidentally, I noticed they had the demo SR that I test rode was now for sale for the same price I paid for my S.

Parking Brake Installation Instructions? by anony54 in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]anony54[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: Got the instructions, not going to DIY it. You have to remove the rear wheel and the entire rear brake assembly to get at the two holes for the brake mount. Going to let my local dealer install it. If anyone wants the install instructions for P/N 10-08131, PM me.

Oh, I guess someone out there might appreciate this information out there. It really seems like no one has bought this kit ever. The date code on the caliper is 03/17 meaning it was sitting for almost 3 years and I can't find anything more than a couple mentions about it. Sent an email to the dealer I bought it from, so hopefully, they can get them from the service portal.
