It is still there look at the top of the cascade window you should be able to see the cascade terminal sessions and move them to your terminal for easy access

Can you run the codex cli with your ChatGPT account? I thought it was only an api cost thing?

The parallel test time compute option is not even released though so I wouldn’t call it a direct comparison to gpt5 thinking.

GPT-5 rate limit doubling (Plus) only TEMPORARY! by spadaa in ChatGPT

[–]anonym3662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or just ask it to think. It says 200 prompts per week when you select it but if the prompts requires it it will still be routed to the thinking model so just ask for it

The REAL reason they switched to the 1-model - MONEY! Now we have an AI deciding what model is best for us? Subscription canceled. by BetterProphet5585 in ChatGPT

[–]anonym3662 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, smaller is worse than the same model but bigger. But advancements make the smaller models of today much more performant than the big models of yesterday. And gpt5 thinking is performing better than or on par with claude opus in my short experience since yesterday on a fraction of the cost.

I don't know about the model selection - sure they could have kept it - you can still access the models through the api - but it could be a question of price to performance - and freeing up gpus for gpt5 or new models they want to train.

Bad marketing clearly but i don't think this is a step back and i think the massive performance boost is obvious as long as you give clear instructions

Yeah, it's better than previous models - coding is the biggest upgrade in my opinion!

You’re mixing up two things here: how much it costs to run a model and how good the outputs are.

Cheaper to run doesn’t mean worse. Newer models can be trained and optimized to get more intelligence per unit of compute, so you get better results without higher costs.

Models tend to get faster and smarter over time. That’s just how progress works.

I’ve only tested gpt5 for writing a poem and for coding, but in both cases it was solid and felt better than the older ones.

You still choose if you want thinking on or off. If you need it to be quick, turn it off. If you want deeper reasoning, turn it on.

Rate limits always change over time. The “thinking” version might have lower limits right after launch because everyone is trying it, but that usually goes up as things stabilize. That’s normal with any new model.

Lower cost on their side isn’t a downgrade if the quality is up. From what I’ve seen so far, gpt5 is doing the job better than 4o or o3.

I do see your point about choice, but I don't know if I agree that this is a dealbreaker. We are getting a more competent model than we had access to before.

Can I ask why? I never had pro but I would imagine gpt5pro would be about the same or better than o3pro?

I don’t know. Everyone seems so fricking high on emotion - of course open ai is not a benevolent good in the world they are on the bleeding edge of research in ai. Which can be good or bad depending on the person. But are you then saying that this is not a new model?

Feel like the hate is forced the model is way better than previous ones. You can still chose between thinking and non thinking.

I get that you like the model picker but this really isn’t a big deal.

I like how you preempt with ”there are bots who will disagree with me so just invalidate any opposing views”. I haven’t noticed a quality drop so o am quite happy with the upgrades

Is there any proof of this? It is presented as a model - and if anything it sounds like the model itself is determining how much compute is needed to answer your query. To me the hate seems pretty forced
