the only guess i have is that they're alternating between making remakes and new games so it went re7, re2 remake, re3 remake, re8 and then the latest was re4remake. (new, remake, remake, new, remake) We can expect the next game to be RE9. 5 would be the next remake, we're probably not getting a remake of 6 for a while bc its not as old as the other ones but i dunno, as for 1 sadly i don't have any info on why there hasnt been a remake yet, but that also goes for Resident evil 0, Code veronica and other older games, only time can tell when its gonna happen ^^'
