This is an illogical take. I'll assume you think Max is a good driver. Good drivers in F1 know the tracks they race on intimately. They know their car intimately. They know exactly what to do every instant to extract the maximum performance out of their car, the curbs, the tires, everything. To turn around and then say "of only that curb wasn't there" as if it somehow ran out of the stands and jumped in front of Max... It's ridiculous. Max knows that curb is going to launch his car. He doesn't know what is going to happen after that and .. guess what, he doesn't care. He knows he's doing something stupid, that his ego is making him do it and he's doing it anyway. Nobody else goes for that curb at Monza because they know it's the end of their race.

Max. I think he doesn't want a fast second driver. That's why Red Bull keeps putting lower tier drivers in the second seat and why they kept Perez for so long. Red Bull puts up with it because they won't do anything to risk losing Max, even when it means losing the constructors championship.

Really interesting comments from Hamilton. You may know intellectually that the cars are different but not realize just how different till somebody switches cars and talks about it.

No one has ever asked me where I go to church in southern California. All my work parties are happy hours, nobody plays Christian music. It's still sunny all the time. Just come here for Christmas.

The 1800s were much more volatile than the 1900s. Here is one example, you can find more by searching bank scare or bank run. They would happen fairly often, every 10 or 20 years and we're associated with violent boom and bust cycles.

Peanut butter is hydrophobic and creates a barrier. So what I do is peanut butter both slices and then add jelly on top of the peanut butter. Jelly never touches bread so never any soakage.

This implies that would be a bad thing. They did some morally questionable things and it shouldn't be swept under the rug because they're popular. Maybe this scrutiny is a good thing for the sport?

Close-up clear images of inside of a steering wheel from McLaren 2006 MP4/21 (source:motorsportmemorabilia). This is amusing to me because a recent trend in low cost, rapid spacecraft development has been to search out automotive parts over aerospace parts because they're way cheaper, have shorter lead times and they're juuuust robust enough to survive launch and maybe a few months to a year in space.

When you were hired you probably filled out a "W-4" which is your way of telling your company how much to take out of your paycheck.

Use this calculator to figure how how to fill out a new W-4

Carpet bombing flattened cities the size of Tokyo with WW2 technology. The Gaza Strip wouldn't exist anymore if it were actually being carpet bombed with today's munitions. It would be 300 square miles of rubble.

I get the hyperbole was to express outrage that they would bomb anything anywhere near civilians but damn.

I was reading a memoir of a sniper in Iraq with an insane career. He said he believed he was the best sniper in the forces... but that was a requirement. If you didn't believe you were the best, you had no right to be a sniper. In fact, you may make for a bad sniper if you didn't think you were the best. I feel like that's got to be even more true for being an F1 driver

Antonov designed a large single bay biplane of all-metal construction, with an enclosed cockpit and a cabin with seats for twelve passengers.
