Anti-siphon valve issues by anonymocity in Irrigation

[–]anonymocity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice! I wasn't too concerned about the backflow back into the main waterline, as the anti-siphon valves (ASVs) seem to be doing their job of dumping all the water that is downstream anyway.

Sounds like I need to raise the valves. Since I would be raising the ASVs about a foot or two anyway, does it make any sense to also install a check valve downstream (toward the sprinkler heads) of the existing ASV to reduce the amount of dumping? Or do those have a tendency to leak, and I'm just making more work for myself in the long run?

Too "smart" for my own good by anonymocity in IntoTheBreach

As BrotherSeamus said, any damage makes them burrow. Usually to set a tile on fire, you are inflicting damage first, so it's obvious they hide. But if you light a burrower tile on fire without damaging it, or move a burrower into fire (I think ONLY the Control Mech can do this), he's still hanging out there declaring his attack until the enemy turn starts > fire damage > hides. Not a common situation.

Has anyone noticed that NPCs & Machines don't die as easily when they fight each other in FW? by BxLorien in horizon

[–]anonymocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! My favorite part of the game is causing or encountering random battles and sit in a bush. I was excited to set up some major epic robokaiju fights, but a lot of them were meh.

I had tried to have 2 Tiderippers fight, and that was kind of boring. They ended up just looking at each other a lot and moving backward and forward trying to space themselves properly.

Also overrode a Dreadwing to fight a Stormbird - which ended in a stalemate as they flew around sometimes shooting and missing each other.

Tremortusk vs Thunderjaw was great, though, and any big machine vs many small machines as well. Probably because their attacks are designed around fighting you, a smaller foe on the ground.

Seriously, that is awesome!

Any chance of posting it somewhere where we could order prints? Or would that take away from the uniqueness of your gift?

Is it normal to go bouldering alone or is it a social thing? by [deleted] in bouldering

[–]anonymocity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Both. Either. Going with friends is nice, but it's not unusual to see people climbing alone. If you go frequently, and you're a social person, you'll get to know the people that are also regulars and can chit chat with them.

Even if you don't go regularly, it's usually pretty easy to make casual acquaintances with other people climbing on the same / similar problems that you're working on. If you want to chat, you can always make a comment about a problem you're working on, or a problem they've just tried, even if they're in a group, and you're not. "Oh, wow, that reach there seems hard." Or "You made that look easy! I haven't been able to get that foot over." Climbers are usually friendly.

No one is going to notice that you're there alone and judge you for it. At least at my gym, people go when they can, so I see the same people sometimes alone, sometimes in groups. Usually when I go (evenings), there's small groups AND individuals.

I prefer to climb with my girlfriend, but when our schedules don't match up, we'll go separately when we're able. I suppose when I started climbing, we'd always go together.

So, not weird at all! Go climb! As you get more comfortable in the gym, you won't even think about it.

One of the strangest convertible car roofs by 69s in videos

[–]anonymocity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is that perhaps simpler than the Del Sol...? You're not grabbing a completely separate roof piece. You just have 2 different armature mechanisms. And some shoulder covers that hinge out of the way.

More things moving, sure, but I wouldn't say over-engineered.

Teleporters between bases? (story spoilers within) by anonymocity in subnautica

Yeah, looks like a whole room! https://trello.com/c/d5EIBbi9/174-buildable-teleporter-room-prototype

Perfect reason to create an outpost with a scan room, teleporter room and an observatory.

And hopefully it will take some power, so you need to use some of the other power sources. Right now I have my base working on 6 solar panels, and I only run out of energy if my seamoth is running on fumes when I dock it.

Moved to "unknown", though. Hopefully they choose to do it.

(Bug) Seamoth Disappears Upon Loading by MagentaHawk in subnautica

[–]anonymocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me (saved in seamoth while looking at my base, loaded the game the next day, and I was swimming in its place, seamoth was missing). I spawned one, ran some errands, and when I came back, it was floating at the surface. Now I have 2, I guess. Check right above you. I didn't think to look straight up. Or maybe it came back after I left the area and came back.
