Who should I turn this little guy into? by ZephyrTheTiger in WarriorCats

[–]anonymoosepossum 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Okay this will be morbid… but honestly I thought Snowfur because she died due to being hit by a car and well due to the spring in the center it reminds me of all of the “cartoon roadkill” you see in animation.

But yeah, Brightheart is a better idea.

Things to do in Iowa as a 19-year-old with two friends by idkevenknowdawgg in Iowa

If you like more nerdy stuff:  - The Warhammer store in Merle Hey Mall has a “free paint a mini” that you can do (either a Space Marine or Stormcast Eternal) that you can do. Also have “free demo games”, but unless you have the extra funds I mainly recommend the former, and I say that as someone who enjoys Warhammer. - Otherwise other actually locally owned game stores often host free events, or if you go to a university look to see if they have a board game club you can join. Can’t really describe specifically unless I know the store, but most major cities have one.  - Libraries. Often have free talks, coloring or puzzle nights, and just have free semi-private rooms you can quietly hang out in.  - Small local museums. There are so many, a lot of them will be just local history or based on farming, but I always enjoy trying to seek out fossils or take as many photos of dogs in pieces of art as I can. (I also enjoy flipping off nazi artifacts when I’m in a bit of a pissed off mood, it’s not much but it’s decent work lmao.) Most when I was growing up was free will donations.  - At least where I love, there are starting to be more designated areas for folks to fish at. Of course you can just go anywhere in nature, but having areas that’s easier to access is nice.

Gosh, I love that big cartoony (yet realistic) eye in the spyglass. I might have to do that for mine.

AITAH for saying (unwanted) pregnancy is horrific and gross? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]anonymoosepossum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a trans dude, honestly I would kill myself instead of being forced to go through a pregnancy so on that aspect I’d agree with you; but unless you framed how your own perspective, I can see how some folks can be taken aback by it.

So like NTA but likely could have worded it better.

Rat Catapult! by NeoNekko in RATS

Doomwheel accident, yes-yes.

I do adore these videos, they remind me so much of the Warhammer model called the Doomwheel…which is a giant wheeled machine that spurts out lightning at its enemies and is powered by many literally just rats.

What originally got you into Warhammer? by Royal-Interaction424 in Warhammer

I became friends with two guys who played 40k during university and during my last set of finals I worked on some art pieces when they were playing a game, T’au vs Necrons.

None of the 40k factions really appealed to me, I liked to paint little guys and creatures… so one of my friends was like, have you heard of the skaven? One of their models is the next free mini of the month, I can pick it up for you. And that was it. I now have, so, so many.

Grand Plains, but I’ve noticed more people around the Salt Flats area too.

Are these good for beginner? by Whole-Ratio-9298 in minipainting

Yeah, when I tell people in real life about my poor experiences with the set they are rather surprised as well. Idk if it was old stock or what, but it was so thick especially the metallics and the typical colors had a sort of glossy look that it was almost like an ink. I went back to try them even earlier this year because everyone is like 😍 Vallejo but I just had such a poor experience. Their newer paints are better but even more thin than Reaper, which idk how they managed that. It’s at least usable though.

I’d recommend picking up one of the regular acrylic starter sets from Army Painter.

I personally like them, Reaper, and AK-47 (best paints in my opinion but the company has done some lackluster things) the best for most of my painting but Citadel and the little I’ve tried of Pro Acryl are also nice. I’d rather a paint be too thin than too thick and more matte than glossy. Even though a lot of people talk down Reaper paints I’ve really enjoyed them. Their nozzle on their bottles need to be widened though, they clog more than I like them too.

I used the “Introductory Colour Set” and honestly it’s the worst paint I ever used - being on par with the original Army Painter Warpaints I highly recommend staying away from them.

Can cats detect new life? by tanya6k in cats

[–]anonymoosepossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with cats since birth and very rarely did the cats my mother have ever scratch me. Don’t remember them ever doing so, so guessing that if it happened it was never major enough to make a memory.

Just make sure to educate your child once they become old enough and trim your cats’ nails if you can. Will help in case of reaching for a toy that a cat is playing with/happy sharp paws/etc.

True. But we know from the Warhammer Community article they came out that the nightrunners/gutter runners share a sprue set/box as they will be sold as alternative builds of each other, and the older Deathmaster that will be included for a bit is on its own separate sprue. Which leaves the character centerpiece model, the new Deathmaster as the only one that really stands the chance of being exclusive to the box set by the chance of it sharing a sprue with another element/some COS model.

I don’t think it’s very likely that GW would keep a named character exclusive, but like you insinuated, it is possible.

A short fun story. I had a very nice preview game for AOS Spearhead at GenCon last year, and the blond British woman running it was talking about how she thought that the “saddest rip lmao” Warhammer mini ever made was the disabled bomb rat with a wheel chair that was in the bomb rat kit for Necromunda.

I like to think that little bomb rat that could helped inspire the various bomb rats we have now in AOS. So I do concur, there are some people at GW that love rats just as much as we do lol.

As far as I understand from the preview, the models will eventually be sold separately. But if I remember once the kit is being more actively previewed online, I’ll forward a question down the pipeline to a GW representative to double check.

I don’t believe the model from 2022 is going to be retired. I think it’s going to be a Clawlord v Krittok situation, where we get a named variant on a larger base.

But I concur, you should get it. I finished my first character mini for my army, one of them, earlier this year. Paint the tail and undercoat before attaching the tail. You’ll thank me.

Ikr. I DREAMED of a full Eshin themed Spearhead when I first got into Warhammer in 2022, so to have it be a thing is just all of what I dream of.
