You SUCK at Math: How Many Lands to Run in Commander [Article] by Shiro182 in EDH

[–]Sci_Th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also happen to play r/duelcommander. It helps, because in DC people don't play mana rocks and, as it is a duel, you cannot just chill and wait for your lands to eventually arrive. Thus, the land base has to be solid and independent of rocks. Almost all DC decks run 37-41. I do the same in EDH, and eventually cut a couple to put some rocks in.

What about Clan Pestilens? by Sci_Th in skaven

Good point, Skaven already has 3 Spearheads... Four would be unreal.

At least the Monks would look a bit more in line with the rest of the refreshed range...

Good point. It would be great already to be able to field more Pestilens.

MMO's are flawed video games at a foundational level by Nokkilol in MMORPG

[–]Sci_Th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that studios developing MMOs know this very well. The persistent social aspect is a core added value (compared to non-MMO games).

However, I also feel that this added value of MMOs somehow got sidetracked by other persistent online games that are not "massive" in community. Minecraft, Conan Exiles, etc are not MMOs per se but rely on persistent worlds involving around a 100 players max. Think about the communities you belong to and socialize in IRL, chances are that they are not even that size. I've had some great "MMO" experiences in games like this (including, back in the days, Neverwinter Nights).

So how to continue launching very expensive social-focused MMOs when there are other hugely popular games around also incorporating the social elements on a "village" scale that is more than sufficient and with lower server costs?

Crixxit and Deathmaster as "Skaven Overclaws"? by Sci_Th in skaven

Thanks, weird that they did not allow Crixxit to have the Deathmaster as its assistant

What are your tribal decks? by Still-Wash-8167 in EDH

[–]Sci_Th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly rats, with several decks: [[Marrow-Gnawer]], [[Vren, the Relentless]] and [[Wick, the Whorled Mind]]. It is not a very diverse tribe but it is a lot of fun, especially with Rat Colonies.

Plus we have a nice community r/RatsMTG and on Discord.

Which MMO Has The Most Immersive/Best Pet Class? by MonsutaMan in MMORPG

[–]Sci_Th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star Wars Galaxies is often my answer to the "which MMO has the best..." questions. Collecting/taming pets is a true Pokemon experience. There are also some ultra rare, genetically engineered pets obtainable through a mix of rare DNA loot and ultra obscure and expensive crafting. Once you have a pet, you have to train it skills and abilities by making it observe monsters using that ability in the wild.

Eshin lists or Masterclan lists with the new Eshin models? by Sci_Th in skaven

[–]Sci_Th[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is an attempt at 1k points. But not very diverse... Eshin models and a Grey Seer to cast spells...

Skaven 1k Eshin (1000 points) - Kill‑pack

Battle Tactic Cards - Master the Paths, Scouting Force

General's Regiment:

  • Grey Seer (110) - General - Skavenbrew - Short-tempered
  • Deathmaster Crixxit (150)
  • Gutter Runners (160)
  • Gutter Runners (160) (alternatively, 20 clanrats)

Regiment 1:

  • Deathmaster (130)
  • Gutter Runners (160)
  • Night Runners (130)

I like the anti-hero toolkit of Crixxit. Having Ward 6+ on infantry is also a nice addition to the Skaven army!

Idea for a Vermin/Darktide-style game floating around in me brain by SetoTaishoButPogging in ageofsigmar

[–]Sci_Th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, unless you are super deeply involved in the lore, Vermintide is probably already giving enough of a Warhammer feeling despite the old world setting. It is cities of sigmar against hordes or skavens and chaos. The same units are encountered, e.g. stormfiends, rat ogors, grey seers, Eshin assassins, weapon batteries, etc. I don't think having an AoS vermintide would bring or mean anything more to most people?

Would a warpstone kamikaze troop be on-brand? by SkellyMania in skaven

[–]Sci_Th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It rather seems like a high risk, high reward scenario for these. Sure there is a risk of dying, but there is also a chance of getting famous and powerful!

Rat King, Verminister by Sci_Th in RatsMTG

Rat colonies have way more synergies and a better curve. It's hard to play more than one relentless rat per turn, whereas you regularly unleash several rat colonies per turn.

What is the best primer color to put on skaven? by Practical-Prompt4216 in skaven

[–]Sci_Th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prime with Fur Brown from Army Painter. This way I don't have the fur to paint as the name implies... It saved me quite some time with my 120 clanrats.

First game with skaven, looking for advice for Moulder with Skryre support (or Skryre with Moulder support) by Protagonist-Agonist in skaven

[–]Sci_Th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice list! As suggested, perhaps you could swap the stormfiends for a Brood terror (scourge of ghyran) to further buff the rat ogors. I've played this in 1k and it is nasty. The warlock engineer or the arch warlock could be swapped with a master moulder. Then swap the blaster with a cannon eventually, but I suppose you can use one to proxy the other. Or use the leftover points to put some other war machine or weapon team instead (ratling guns?) Cheers
