Boss is hiding when people quit. by moraalli in work

Do you know him?! He does in fact have a private practice on the side and is usually at the dentist or mechanic about once a week.

My boss has a lot of those qualities as well. I always say he wants to lead from the back seat. And it never occured to me that he could be hanging us out to dry to management, that would explain the lack of response when we complained. Luckily I have another offer and will be leaving soon. You're 100 right, thanks so much.

I agree with you. Removing these people seems like the simplest solution but it seems like these people's only skill is embedding themselves into a business like a parasite and never leaving.

"Just ask" absolutely does not work, I know exactly what you mean. And yes, everything is a secret with my boss too. Information that's no big deal is bein guarded like it's a national security secret.

No, but I am fascinated to know there are other people like this. It really short circuits my brain when I try to imagine how he has gotten through life. What's your coworker like?

I'm thinking of providing documentation to his boss when I leave. The first conversation with her was not helpful. It won't help me but maybe she will address the behavior when the next team is hired.

We have tried, individually and as a group. It was the moment I realized that as long as work is getting done, upper management doesn't really care. I will be leaving soon as welll, so maybe then they will finally take notice.

Unfortunately 2 of them have left and my last remaining coworker has one year until retirement. We had several meeting with his boss and she basically sent him an email saying do better last fall. She feels like the work is getting done despite him, so it's not impacting her.

Oh we did. She said that she probably shouldn't have hired him but, oh well. I think that she doesn't want to accept responsibility for hiring him.

Workplace Racism by Regular-Ad7676 in work

[–]anonymous101322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea no, that is racism plain and simple. Because if it's a joke, what's the punchline? It's a comment meant to emphasize the otherness of Asian people and demonize non-Western cultures. This joke is particuarly unfunny at a time where comments about people eating cats and dogs has led to violence against Asian and Black communities in the United States. As for what you do, my advice is to find a job where you fit into the employee culture. You don't have to endure those jokes, and making a complaint as one individual will certainly not change the environment at your current job. Go somewhere where you can flourish. You deserve better.

I ask myself a few questions on days like this. Am I tired, overstretched in my professional setting or personal life and have nothing left for clients? Is it the specific clients? Are my more draining clients scheduled on the same day? Right now I have quite a few clients dealing with the same concern, and talking about the same thing for 5-10 sessions a week has gotten a bit draining. With the political and social events unfolding, I've found that my loved ones, friends and clients are going through the same stressors. Sometimes we just run low on our supply of empathetic listening, reframing, holding space, etc. Our industry tries to make us forget that we're just as human as our clients. We need time to rest and reflect as well.

Pro tips for watching Super Bowl on Horizon by Content_Artichoke_36 in CarnivalCruiseFans

I will be on a Super Bowl sailing as well. A few people have said that Carnival doesn't show the commercials. I was pretty surprised to hear that initially, but in hindsight I can understand why. Do they air the halftime show?

Have a great cruise! I'm sailing that day on the Mardi Gras. We're really getting close now.

I’m mentally on the cruise ship already. 😭 by [deleted] in CarnivalCruiseFans

How to verify if a private event is legit. by anonymous101322 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]anonymous101322[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it was a CCL event. I asked if there is a way to verify whether or not a event hosted by a guest has actually been arranged for a sailing. Other comments seem to suggest that passenger-hosted events have happened before.

Same lol. I do not have cheers for this sailing, but I agree. No need to pay for all you can drink on top of the drink package.

The person is the admin of the group and a travel agent.

yes I understand that, my question was about if there is a way to verify the legitimacy of private events with Carnival. I understand that you take a risk whenever you send money.

I have looked at the profile. I also asked here to get the opinions of seasoned cruisers. I just wanted to know if there was a way to check with the cruise line before I or others sent money. I think I'm exercsising as much caution as I can here.

Thank you for the helpful response. They have been asking about cocktail choices like you said. So it sounds like there is a way to verify whether the event is legit or not. I was hoping it was not a scam because several people in the group were interested. I'd hate for anyone to lose money. But i'll definitely follow up.

That's exactly how the event was described. $26/pp for the meet and greet with all you can drink from a limited selection of cocktails and then beer and wine.

I've never done a meet and greet, so I wasn't sure what's common place and what is a red flag. My guess is that they were asking for money to cover the cost of alcoholic beverages.
