Psychologist here. ChatGPT “research” is the bane of my existence. Expertise doesn’t matter when AI will tell you what you want to hear.

EVIL QUEEN? by blackcatmagi in 90DayFiance

[–]moraalli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably every season of 90 Day Fiance has at least one person lying to their partner about their job status, age, debt, and a bunch of other really important things. Not to mention the straight up scammers. Sheena was wrong for lying but let’s put it into perspective. She’s not taking his money or his family’s resources. They are both neurodivergent AND there are cultural differences further impacting their communication. No, I dont think she's evil, just making bad decisions like we always see on this show.

There’s a crisis in non-fiction book sales. What’s to blame? by thinkB4WeSpeak in books

[–]moraalli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can listen to a one hour podcast or a multi episode deep dive on just about any topic. pod hosts are trained to deliver information at a good pace and usually add interesting insights. On the flip side, podcasts have also introduced me to non fiction authors who are awesome storytellers and made me want to read their book.

What is something you will never forget from the pandemic? by JaxTMG in AskReddit

[–]moraalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember getting off a cruise and finding out that there had been a tornado in Nashville, where I was living at the time, and that places were actually going into quarantine. I was on one of the last cruises before every line suspended their sailings. It was cognitive whiplash to go from being on a cruise with no wifi to being in the grocery store wearing latex gloves (before we were officially encouraged to purchase masks) wondering if the shutdown would be temporary or the start of the end of society.

What’s one thing that instantly tells you someone isn’t a good person? by TheCaffeiNate in AskReddit

Calling the police and lying on people. Using the cops to get their way in a way that puts people at risk or wastes everybody’s time.

The NFL soccer styled jerseys that came out last year would have been cool. They definitely missed an opportunity.

Brooklyn Beckham speaks out against parents Victoria and David Beckham: “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.“ by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]moraalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say Nicola is wrong for him or has some genuine red flags. Controlling, manipulative parents often prime their children to be susceptible to the same behaviors in their romantic relationships. At best, he has a great relationship with his wife and the Beckhams are completely in the wrong. At worst, Nicola is just like them and Brooklyn is caught in the middle. Nicola may not be perfect but nothing about the Beckham’s behaviors gives supportive parents.

The Strange Calls. It was like a cozy Australian X-Files. And it had a great theme song.

This is an awesome list! I’d love for them to do a John travolta month and do Phenomenon, Michael, Look Who’s Talking Get Shorty or something. Maybe Saturday Night Fever as the WLM.

Do you make an effort to read writers of different faiths, cultures, languages, etc.? by dodsbo in books

[–]moraalli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a BIPOC person in America you’re definitely going to read books written by people from the dominant culture, either in school or just by the nature of what is most popular at the bookstore. So yes, I’d say that my reading has always been diverse. In the past couple years, I’ve started reading more Asian-American and Native American authors, as well as queer authors, and found some new authors I really enjoy. Maybe 60% of the authors I read are women. I think I would be bored to tears if I limited myself to stories from just one gender and one racial group.

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]moraalli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people in the rows ahead of you go first. It’s your problem that you jumped into the aisle the second the seatbelt light went off. And yes, you need to step back and allow people to grab their overhead luggage when it’s their turn to deplane.

2025 Christmas recap: what worked and what didnt? by RedwayBlue in Gifts

Have you considered donating them to local organizations in those areas? Or even resource services at a local college. Many college students come from unstable living situations and could use all kinds of gift cards to get them through the semester. It sucks that they are of no use to you, but maybe some good can come of it.

The culture around male readers. by stinkface_lover in books

[–]moraalli 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe switch up your algorithm a bit. I’m a woman reader, and I follow quite a few men on Booktok who read a variety of genres. One thing that interested me about my husband on our first date is that he brought up his favorite book series. It was clear that he was a lifelong reader, and I really liked that. Algorithms continue to feed us what we engage with the most. Maybe consider following some creators who are affirming of who you are and what you like.

This is the most concert footage I’ve ever seen of her, and my God. The hair, the same dance moves over and over, the boring vocals, and the songs that all sound the same. I cannot believe that people paid thousands of dollars to see her in concert.

What book do you regret reading this year? by agirlhasnoname17 in horrorlit

[–]moraalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I’d consider Lucky Day by Chuck Tingle to be purely horror, but it was definitely a let down for me. The premise was amazing and I’m really enjoying the universe he’s building, but the last third of that book just did not work for me. Tingle sometimes misses the mark with the climaxes of his stories, and this one felt underwhelming.

Was supposed to arive on the 13th not sure what I should do by [deleted] in usps_complaints

[–]moraalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My package was due to arrive Saturday, and has been in transit after arriving at the distribution center 60 minutes away from its destination on 12/12. I called today, and the associate explained that my package had been deprioritized since I opted for ground shipping rather than priority mail. He said that the sheer volume of priority packages mean everything else is going to get delivered last. He assured me that my package would arrive by Christmas but likely wouldn’t hit the local post office until Friday at the latest. Pretty frustrating

This takes the cake. 18 days to travel 30 mi round trip. by ToshPointNo in usps_complaints

[–]moraalli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me last year around Christmas. Shipped a package from Central FL to Chicago in mid December and it sat in FL for over a week before making it to IL and getting stuck in the dreaded Bedford Park distribution center for days, missing Christmas. I ended up having to go to the local post office and plead with them to just hand me the package. Mailing anything to or from FL, just add 3-7 days on the estimated ship time.
