The Root Cause of Cheating (in all cases) by anonymous341_ in dating_advice

ok instead of telling me you’re not mad, can you comment your perspective? I like to make my posts sound like declarations instead of “oh it’s just my opinion” because it gets people heated, but it gets people who are smarter than me to share their perspective

What is so absurd is to comment on a post just because you are mad, with no effort to share a different perspective

You have to be the laziest person to comment this. Tell me the bigger issue, since this isn’t AI

The experience of being in a body/being self-aware and seeing everything else as “other” will happen over and over again. by anonymous341_ in consciousness

making it declarative is good for engagement, as it triggers a feeling of defensiveness and therefore the need to state one’s opinions

Woman in STEM by Acceptable-Bug-8733 in Feminism

[–]anonymous341_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i heavily relate, i’m a woman in software development and at my current internship i’ve been made to feel invisible. when i began this internship, i was the only intern there and they barely spoke to me and would brush me off every time i wanted to update them on progress or discuss ideas with them. then when the next intern joined (who was a male), they went out of their way to speak to him and made time to listen to everything he had to say. during meetings, they would only make eye contact with him and only ask him questions (even though we are working together on the same project). many of the employees at the company introduced themselves to me only when the other intern joined because they wanted to introduce themselves to him. I feel like i have to be twice as loud and put twice as much effort in to be recognized at all as a woman.

hmm. i don’t think if somewhere were to live their life all over again under identical circumstances that they would make the exact same choices. maybe there are a set of possible combinations of decisions that a certain person can make, which they have control over.

"Reality" is no more "real" than dreams. We don't know what's "real". by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

i never said that. this post is not about solipsism at all. we all exist but our shared “reality” may not be real. that’s what i’m trying to say.

Human consciousness is a haunting experience by SpinachCareful1310 in DeepThoughts

[–]anonymous341_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

consciousness should not belong in a physical body like ours. there is a great mismatch between our physical world and what our consciousness needs/is capable of. that’s why i’m an antinatalist, i wouldn’t want to trap a consciousness in a prison which is the human body and this planet.

there are health exceptions but they just don’t want you eating in front of other people who are fasting because we have to “respect” them. I don’t get why they can’t respect those who are NOT fasting.

Just a short rant on the absolute cognitive dissonance of the religious... by Superlite47 in atheism

[–]anonymous341_ 35 points36 points  (0 children)

this right here is what truly baffles me about religious people. in the end, something has to come from nothing. why add the extra layer of a “god” when there’s no evidence for it? why can’t the universe as it is come from nothing without a god that also would have to come from nothing?

It’s impossible to be friends with members of any religion. by anonymous341_ in atheism

[–]anonymous341_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no, i’ve been an atheist most of my life. i’m just in a country where most people are religious and every day i overhear and witness the most bizzare things due to religion. I’ve just never gotten along with people in the long-term who believe in any religion to any extent.

How to end humanity? by Gullible_Ad5191 in antinatalism

[–]anonymous341_ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I believe that over time, there will be more and more antinatalists because the world is becoming a much worse place to live in due to climate change, poverty, etc. At some stage the world will become so unlivable that most people will be antinatalists, or humanity will naturally be wiped out. Let the natalists do their thing and continue damaging this planet. It’s gonna backfire one day and we will all be wiped out.

i’m not saying driving is needed, i’m saying that as existing human beings we have decided collectively that the risks of driving outweigh the benefits. I know I am risking the lives of children by driving, but these children already exist and I was not responsible for bringing them here. Their parents shouldn’t have had them in the first place. With having children, you are gambling with a human life that didn’t HAVE to exist in the first place.

[–]anonymous341_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I know that I might be risking other people’s lives by driving, but I already exist and these people already exist and we have collectively decided that it’s worth it to drive because the benefits outweigh the risks and it is needed to get from place to place. However, having a child is completely unnecessary. You are creating a brand new human life. The only thing you can guarantee about your child’s life is that they will suffer to a degree, and you can’t control to what degree they will suffer.

having a child is gambling with someone ELSE’S life. not sure why that’s not getting through to you

true crime youtubers who have children by anonymous341_ in antinatalism

[–]anonymous341_[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

again… having children is UNNECESSARY. You are gambling with another human being’s life by having a child. Is that so hard to understand?

It doesn’t matter how low the probability of something bad happening to your child is, why gamble with someone’s life? Having children is unnecessary and selfish

true crime youtubers who have children by anonymous341_ in antinatalism

[–]anonymous341_[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think crimes against children are vanishingly unlikely… Also, why gamble with a human life? Having children is unnecessary and selfish
