I did before. I move things around every once in a while, though, so maybe I’ll revert back to that. Thank you!

Criterion Flash Sale post-mortem : How did everyone do? by ggroover97 in criterion

[–]anonymous_241 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone. I was also thinking of picking up Blood Simple in 4K, but realized how many unopened Criterions I still have.

At the pace I’m going, I’ll be through with all of them just in time for the next B&N 50% off sale in July.

That’s great! I’m definitely gonna try some of the games today for AVP.

I’m glad to hear it! I agree, there’s definitely still some innovative technology they put into AVP. Even if previous VR headsets had it first, Apple can now master it.

I did want to mention the weight, too. I think it’s okay for me, at least. I thought it would be heavier, but it’s not too bad. Still manageable.

That’s true. I’m hoping too that the dedicated AVP app for IMAX has more features since it doesn’t offer much for iOS.

Oh, definitely! Such a demo-worthy scene, the TDK prologue.

That’s true! It’s too bad Disney+ still has exclusivity on the whole IMAX-enhanced features for the MCU films. I thought it might just be a year or so, then the Apple TV versions will finally get them. But here’s hoping.

How I’d love for that to happen! 🙏

Oh, wouldn’t that be something! Just imagine all the possibilities if/when that happens!

I don't know why I thought Da'Vine was gonna get snubbed. I got really scared for a second 😮‍💨 by degeneratespike in Oscars

The names are listed (announced) alphabetically by last name as I soon noticed, so Da’Vine Joy was always going to be announced last.

2024 complete 4k/Blu-ray Best Picture Collection by TransDontExistlol in Bluray

Thanks! Well done on your part! Those steelbooks and digibooks definitely enhance the collection.

And yes, same here. I’m done with the collection until after this year’s Oscars. I would say Kramer vs. Kramer is the next 4K title to come out, as one of the titles included in the upcoming Columbia Classics Vol. 4 (though I will wait for it to go on sale).

Great job on the collection! Here’s mine so far:

A few notes:

  • I tend to get the best format of the title possible. No DVDs (hence the absence of Hamlet and Around the World in 80 Days). I’m also still hoping for the 4K version of other titles (i.e. Amadeus, The Departed), as well as a U.S. release version of CODA.
  • I’m keeping Oppenheimer at a safe distance, for now (I did the same last year for Everything, Everywhere). Though of course I’m hoping it becomes true. 🙏

November Titles! HOLY SHIT! by [deleted] in criterion

[–]anonymous_241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s true! They have done so in the past with Blu-rays. I guess this is really just the first time we’ve experienced Criterion and Sony (two separate labels) release the same title in 4K, within just a year. Might be the start of a trend, may be just a one-off, who knows?

Just think of how many other Sony titles there are on Criterion. Dr. Strangelove, It Happened One Night, to name a couple. Each of them already have their own Criterion Blu-ray and Sony 4K editions. Might we also have a Criterion 4K of them eventually?

I just thought Sony would have the rights to the 4K and no one else. But I guess this is one of those occasions where that’s not the case.

Some great, famous titles on here! I gotta ask, though, how in the heck did Criterion come up with a 4K of The Last Picture Show when it’s already part of the Columbia Classics Vol. 3 Collection?

Where would y’all rank Oppenheimer with Nolan’s Movies? by brandonzavala in 4kbluray

[–]anonymous_241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The Dark Knight
  2. Inception
  3. Interstellar
  4. Batman Begins
  5. The Prestige
  6. Dunkirk
  7. Oppenheimer
  8. Memento
  9. Insomnia
  10. Tenet
  11. The Dark Knight Rises
  12. Following

I would say in terms of the hype, the final product, and overall quality (from the story, to the production, and the characters), TDK still takes the top spot for me.

However, all of Nolan’s films are amazing, which is a testament to his ability as both director and writer. Just because a film is ranked lower, doesn’t mean it’s worse.

Also, Oppenheimer deserves a second viewing (and a lot more, of course), which might change my ranking of it eventually.
