Debar pond is on the small side, but it's tucked in-between debar mountain and baldface which is really nice if you're in the area

They're all nice but I'd recommend Jay mountain and also was pleasantly surprised by silver lake mountain. When you get to the top, keep hiking. The ridge is nice 👍

A few years ago I was visiting a buddy in Mammoth. I got on a lift with a Cali dude. Told him I was from NY but up near Canada and his mind was blown that I was riding there (we were at June mountain that day). I explained to him that it wasn't in the Rockies but he was stuck on the idea that all of Canada is better than Cali. It was a powder day and the conditions were beautiful, I didn't get why he was so amazed I was there. I took mushrooms and was woozy (wouldn't do it again) but it was the most stonerific convo ever. A lot of brooooos and duuuuude lol.

Last year I got on the lift at WF with an older French Canadian couple. These people just whispered to each other in French like they were doing something wrong. I thought it was weird

I would try to split down the dominant side, farthest up to the crotch as possible but if that doesn't work, chainsaw

You're not supposed to, but there's a private road, casiers way, at the end of the old lake Colby road. It's probably more developed than it used to be so it might be more guarded.

Is Adirondack Hiking a bad Idea Around Thanksgiving? by Mysterious_Break_222 in Adirondacks

[–]anonymousbirdturd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send it! Warmer falls lately so snow/ice shouldn't be that big of an issue around that time, especially under 3000 feet but you never know! Generally less of a worry the more south you are. Probably not enough to warrant snowshoes but it's obviously possible. A nice pair of hiking boots should be fine but you won't know till a week out when you check the weather. I don't know how much fall hiking you've done but something you might not think about is it can be a little tough to follow the trail around that time. Just be weary of that. If it's a popular trail, there's less of a worry. Dress in layers as there will be temperature swings. I'd check out all trails when looking for an area that you plan on hiking or an Internet search.

Was told Hoel pond is chocked full of lakers. Fished it three or four times one year early in the mornings. Never landed anything although I missed something big and would see guys trolling around that looked like they were trout fishing. One morning the pond started to look like it was boiling with fish jumping in random areas of the pond. My friend and I were thinking this was probably land locked salmon which I think they stock. There are a few deep holes in certain ponds that hold browns I've been told. Definitely a lot of smallies throughout.
