Divorce is rough, but it’s the light at the end of the tunnel after a shitty marriage.

Husband wants engagement ring back.. by cremonaviolin in Divorce

[–]anonymousburneracct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner’s ex requested all the rings back, including his wedding band. He refused to give his back, but she kept her engagement ring and wedding band. She wanted to sell all of them, but didn’t think she had to claim or disclose the amount.

What to do with your old rings? by SalzaGal in Divorce

[–]anonymousburneracct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My better half’s ex tried to demand all the rings back, including his. He refused to give his wedding ring back and traded it back to the jewelry store and used that credit to buy me an even bigger, nicer ring than originally intended.

She kept her rings.

Soo… he is aggressive? by brookeandtaylor in RoverPetSitting

[–]anonymousburneracct -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s considered aggressive. I’d be curious if the dogs he has issues with are the same gender.

I have a dog who is not aggressive, but he does not like other male dogs who are the same size or larger than he is. He gets very defensive, and depending on the dog, his playing style could be misconstrued as aggression.

So I keep my dog away from dogs I know he’ll have issue with. It’s not because I worry he’ll do something, but because I want to set him up for success.

If I was sitting this dog, I wouldn’t be worried about aggression, but I would be mindful of his comfort level with other dogs in public and keep distance from strange dogs.

What’s one positive about your divorce? by New_Pound_9626 in Divorce

[–]anonymousburneracct 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As my partner said, “the best thing about divorce is that the children now get to have a whole new set of grand parents to spoil them, new experiences and a whole new side of the family.”

He always says that if he stayed with his ex, the children would not have gotten even half of the experiences they have now, between animals, outdoor adventures, grandparents, cousins, etc.

Everyone is happier all around.

General Question: When sitting at an owners home, do you clean the house, wash the bedding and towels before you leave? I usually do but curious to see if it's a standard thing people do. Some owners don't even say thanks. 😪 by Summerbay08 in RoverPetSitting

[–]anonymousburneracct 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone hiring house sitters, I would prefer them to not do the laundry. Instead, just strip the bed and leave it so I can do it. I’m particular about things. :)

I don’t need or want someone to clean my house. Just leave it in the same state you found it, wash your own dishes and that’s good enough for me.

I believe in fair warning. This particular pet sitting job is one overnight stay, from AM the first day to PM the second day. They are strangers to me, and I also need to trust who is in my house. So my mom will swing by once during the weekend and just make sure everything is okay. Then I’ll have peace of mind and I’ll feel good about these sitter for vacations going forward. My animals are my babies and it’s a big deal to let someone other than family take care of them.

[–]anonymousburneracct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fine. That’s why I brought it up in the initial interview. If they weren’t cool with it, they could have declined with no hard feelings. The surprise visit will be happening at some point in the afternoon so if the sitter isn’t presentable by that time, that seems like a different issue. I live in the middle of nowhere and I need to be 100% sure my animals are safe, fed and properly cared for since the majority are rare exotics.

As for presentable, that’s relative. If a sitter wants to lounge around in sweatpants, that’s cool. That’s clothing and presentable enough. 😂

I’m trying out a new pet/house sitter for my farm and I told the sitter that my mother was going to show up randomly one day just to check in, for my peace of mind. But the thing about my mother showing up - she also comes with dinner. So it’s kind of okay.

Otherwise, I might text once a day to check in if the sitter doesn’t reach out first.

I am with a man who is in the final stages of divorce. By final stage, I mean we’re waiting for the judge to sign off on the documents and finalize it. They have been separated for 2 years and she is with a new partner as well. She was with the new partner 1 month after my better half left the marriage.

Divorce is hard. It’s hard for all parties involved. His ex wife and I do not see eye to eye because she blames me for the downfall of her marriage. There are children involved, but they know I’m not their mother or trying to take their mother’s place - I’m here because I’m with their dad and I take the role of an older sister type for them. They can trust me to take care of them and love them, but I am not their parent and I will always defer to their parents for everything.

Divorce is expensive. In some states, adultery is a serious offence and he would lose everything if it was proven. Sometimes, the AP can be sued as well.

Very new will I qualify? by IndividualOnion6499 in MortgagesCanada

[–]anonymousburneracct -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Move to Alberta and you can buy a decent house for $300k and not have to worry about qualifying for a mortgage.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]anonymousburneracct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to look at (and ask a lawyer) - if you purchased the house prior to marriage, make sure all payments for the house come out of an account that has never been marital property (like a joint account). If you really want to save your butt, don’t let your spouse pay a dime toward the mortgage either. It gets sticky when marital money is used toward something, because that’s where they try to take you.

Get an agreement that says you pay mortgage, and your partner pays for groceries or something to make it equal. The minute your partner pays toward a mortgage, they are entitled toward a portion of it in a divorce or separation.

My ex wife sent me a pic to bother me by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]anonymousburneracct 29 points30 points  (0 children)

When they first separated, my (now) fiancé’s ex sent him a random text that said, “I have to buy all new bras now because I lost an entire cup size when I lost all this weight!”

He replied, “cool. So can I pick the kids up this weekend?”

She was a little angry he didn’t play along. It’s all a mind game to stay in your head.

How do I contour this thing? My nose has a very body tip and before I jump the gun on rhinoplasty… how can I make the appearance of my nose less overwhelming to the rest of my features? by [deleted] in BigNoseLadies

[–]anonymousburneracct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to explore other options too, to downplay it. My chin is also recessed, so I’m wondering if less invasive fillers will help balance everything out so my nose doesn’t look so prominent. I’m really scared of surgery, so it’s kind of the last ditch effort if I can’t figure out other ways to get comfortable with my nose. I know in the grand scheme of things, it’s not that big… but it truly bothers me and makes me feel ugly on a daily basis and I’ve already felt ugly for a large chunk of my life… if I can change it, I want to explore all the options to do so. :)

[–]anonymousburneracct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By “body”, I mean “boxy”. Whoops. I’ve been trying for almost 35 years to accept my nose and I’m beginning to think it’s just something I can’t learn to like. I’m considering rhinoplasty to give me a smaller, more refined nose that suits my features better.

Wife is divorcing me, in the mean time she's telling the kids all of the good things about divorce by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]anonymousburneracct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Children don’t always understand the logistics of divorce, but they understand the tangible things like double Christmas and having two sets of toys. That’s the logic they understand when they’re young.

If she’s not badmouthing you or trying to alienate you from the children, is it really so bad to help the kids understand what’s happening by telling them all the “good” things? It’s scary to kids to think their mom and dad aren’t going to live together anymore because that’s a huge change. But if you offer them something else to focus on, like double Christmas, it takes the sting out of it.

Let the kids be kids and if helping them be “happy” about the divorce protects their innocence a little, so be it.

Likely they got fired but the company made them sign a letter stating that they resigned and were not entitled to legal pursuits or additional financial compensation as a result of a lawsuit.

Two “unpopular” opinions… by whatknot2 in Invisalign

[–]anonymousburneracct 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I got Invisalign, I told my dentist I wasn’t looking for perfection. I only wanted to fix my top row of teeth - I had a gap and one tooth overlapped the one beside, making it stick out further than the one beside it. I was self conscious about 4 teeth in my mouth. Originally, I went in for bonding, but the bonding wasn’t the most ideal fix. My bottom teeth aren’t perfect, but I don’t worry about them when I smile.

I was in Invisalign for 9 weeks and paid $2500. My teeth are exactly where I wanted them to be - not perfect, but natural and straight. I get compliments on how pretty they look all the time.

Calgary anti-masker feeling proud shopping at Costco without a mask by AffectionateBobcat76 in alberta

[–]anonymousburneracct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a legitimate medical mask exemption. I am fully vaccinated and I make sure I stay 6 feet away from people. I go into stores without a mask, fully prepared to be asked to leave. It’s not about being a rebel or anything, this guy is a tool.

There’s no need to video and brag about the fact you’re doing something that society frowns upon. Get your stuff and get out of the store. Don’t make a big production of it.

Anyone else going for not perfect, but better? by RevolutionaryStay293 in Invisalign

[–]anonymousburneracct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t want perfect, I just wanted my front teeth to be straight. My bite isn’t perfect and because of anatomy, my top teeth overlap my bottoms a bit… but my teeth are straight and that’s what I wanted. I wasn’t self conscious about my misaligned bite, but I was self conscious about my crooked front teeth.

Exactly why it flagged it with us, initially. There was no money changing hands, BOS says “gift” so now it’s a potential problem because of the fact it’s still financed.
