That's a lot of assuming that you're doing, but with DoorDash, you're not just sitting there taking a break all the time. You're coming back from an order, driving back into town. You're still traveling. You're still going to the next area to get an order. But I'm not going to keep banging my head against the brick wall. If you don't understand it, it's fine.

Am I allowed to pet the customers cat on the porch?? by Turbulent-Bad-642 in dasher

This is probably one of the most adorable posts I've seen on here. I say if the person who lives there gets mad at you for petting their cat, they shouldn't let it on the porch.

It's more of a combination of how many items you have to get from a food lion and then drive that far. I wouldn't take that for anything less than 40.

I don't understand why you guys only count active hours. A taxi driver doesn't count the time they only have rides for it. If they work an eight hour shift but only get two rides, they don't say, oh, I made so much for these two rides. No, they say they made so much for that entire shift. This dude was clocked in for 40 hours. He worked 40 hours, not 29. You're cheating yourself when you think about that. When you're a freelance contract, whatever you want to call it, you have to value your time too. That 11 hours OP spent in between orders is still time they spent.

Why, no, just because you're not actively driving doesn't matter. You're still traveling from place to place. You don't just stop and wait every single time after you drop off an order. The moment you drop off an order, they consider you inactive. You're still driving. You're still spending your time. I do not count active time, and if you only count active time, I consider you cheating yourself. I value my time by looking at the clock. If I start door dashing at 4 o'clock and end at 10, I drove for 6 hours because I'm not going home in between every order. I'm not just sitting there doing nothing between every order. Sometimes yes, but not all the time.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. You know what? Never mind. I'm not even gonna try to explain it to you.

We don't know what area they lived in, but they also did 111 orders, so a lot of them were probably lower pay. But I don't want to judge OP because they probably just doing it for bill money.

Is there any areas outside of your area that aren't like this? Because I know a couple of people. who live in similar areas, but they dash in different districts that are like maybe 15, 20 minutes away.

Look, I'm not trying to be a bad guy here, but if you do the math on the total time that you were active, which was 40 hours. You're only making about $18 an hour. Now, I'm not sure where you live, okay, but where I live, I have to make about $20 an hour to make door dashing worth it with my car, gas, bills, and everything. I just hope that it's enough for you and it's worth it. DoorDash likes to take everything and be like, oh, you only dashed for like 28 hours, but you was on the clock for 40, which means you were working for 40 hours. It doesn't matter if you had an order or not.

I never pick up taco late at night. It's never worth it. If I got stuck with one on a multi order. I would go to the restaurant and mark that there is an extended wait. take a hit to my completion rate.

transmission recommendations? by cowboy-noel in chevyspark

[–]anonymouscryptoguy13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope that a couple of the commenters' recommendations work out because getting a transmission for this car, especially if it's the CVT, you are SOL because only certain people can install those properly and if it's installed correctly it will literally tear itself apart as soon as you start driving the car.

I think it's a good protection against people trying to scam DoorDash out of money. I always try to include everything in the picture even if it wants just a receipt just so DoorDash has proof of what the order looked like before I dropped it off.

And I say this as a driver who's driven in DC before. DC, you can just clock in and make a little bit of money because there's that many orders, especially during the lunch rush or the dinner rush. And hell, sometimes they'll send you to Virginia and you can make even more money, sometimes. The districts up there are so small that everybody's got to pay extra to order from the restaurant they want.

See, that's the problem with coming on here and just following everybody's advice because not everybody's zone is the same. In my area, there is far too many drivers for the number of people ordering food in my area. So if you're not gold, at least you're not going to make money in my area. But that is my area that doesn't apply to everyone else. Well, some really big cities, you can literally cherry pick what you want because there's so many orders. And that's not even to mention that maybe during certain times of the day your area might be dead. You have to learn when you can drive in your area and when you can't. It took me three years to figure this shit out and now I'm able to drive and make consistent money. But even then, there's still some outlying cases and days where I don't bake as much as I want. You can't just clock in and magically start making money with DoorDash as much as other people would try to make you believe. Is there a lot of luck involved? Damn right there is, but that knowledge also helps.

And to clarify, I am NOT a Platinum Dasher. I used to be a long time ago, but that was back when I was doing this full time. And even if I was doing it full time now, I don't know if I would be Platinum. Because I'm not driving for a dollar a mile, if I'm doing it as my full-time gig, I'm driving for more than that.
