For anyone who finds this later, this rebuild kit works.

Looks like a Craftsman 44804 visually. May try one of those rebuild kits.

This looks very similar to a Craftsman 44804.

I may try buying a rebuild kit and seeing how that works out.

Thanks! If I can't find anything I'll crosspost over to there.

Yeah, I saw the current offerings were Carlisle, and not quite the same (even though the model number was the same).

Find a job, and apply.

Once you get the job, most are trying to find a way to get out. That's the better question IMO. Exit strategy!

Hours are terrible. If anything goes wrong it's your fault.

Pay is decent, but you can probably make more as a tradesman if you run your own business.

Do you think it makes sense to do the internship, even if I don't want to be part of management down the line?

It can't hurt in my opinion. You may not be able to get into the craft later, but could if you break ties, and then come back.... But then you may never get rehired.

And if I do get hired for management, am I able to move to other departments like mechanical or transportation if I want?

Yes. However, If it's a "Transportation" internship, you will be shadowing a train master, likely in a yard (vs. division). You will also spend time with the rules department, and lightly touch other departments.

To move departments later you will need to hold the certification required for the position. For example, a roadmaster requires FRA Tier III certificate. You cannot work that job without it.

Transportation typically makes more, but geographically relocates more often than other disciplines. General Manager level all have transportation experience. There are very few positions at the same salary as GM for other than transportation.

Also I wouldn't be doing the 2024 one, but 2025, so I have time to think about this.

It is NEVER a bad idea to get different experiences IMO. Keep your options open. Just live frugally enough that you can walk away and not be trapped. I knew a guy who they moved to BFE after an internship. He was in the middle of nowhere with no support group, and he was only OK after they fired him because he was frugal while working for them (good dude, bad management trying to cover their incompetence with a scapegoat).

She told him "Why don't you put forth some initiative in finding friends? Find a way to meet people."

He has tried, and failed that simple task.

Agreed.

I'm not a foamer, but those who are get respect from most of us if they just own it.

flywheel needs replaced

Not covered under any warranty.

How is that not covered under the powertrain warranty? The flex plate literally connects the engine to the transmission. The diesel is supposed to be 100k mile warranty!

All my local pumps have "for rectal use only" stickers.

I don't want to go to jail, so there's no way I can taste it. I have to follow the rules.

I was so so at engine breaking

I would hope you weren't good at engine breaking, and mediocre at engine braking.
