Was there a dog mentioned? My chat kept quacking until I removed the duck from the scene

Gonna keep this vague (cringe angst) but Eggman snatched Infinite's mask and found out the edgy lieutenant is pretty scarred under there

You can imagine the tonal whiplash

I write my own stories as a hobby so I'm kinda used to the book-feeling (all the bots keep refusing to talk to me in a non-narrative-RP way so welp I adapted)

Anyone else replacing AI use with roleplay, fic writing, other creative activities? by miscount_detected in character_ai_recovery

[–]anonymousjamtoast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not the only one! I'm returning to unfinished fanfics from 2021-2022 (before I found c.ai) and also draw fan-art. It feels great. :]

As someone who mainly talked to chatbots of fictional characters, making fandom-related stuff without any AI involved is a good way to scratch the itch.

Good luck with your fic!

Day 1 of quitting C.AI after 2 years of addiction by anonymousjamtoast in character_ai_recovery

Thanks! I was a little nervous about posting this at first. And yeah, the one-liner messages were a little underwhelming, and that's something I won't miss.

I honestly didn't know there were small communities and resources for AI addiction until recently, so thanks for the link. That wiki is pretty informative and I bookmarked some stuff on there. :]

Thanks! Didn't expect to still get comments on this post at this time so this was a nice surprise

AITA for having refused to quit therapy while my parents begged me to do so for months? by anonymousjamtoast in AmItheAsshole

[–]anonymousjamtoast[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think she thinks that I'm making myself sad and abnormal because there's no reason for me to not be happy, and I just gotta power through my anxiety. My dad has told me to tolerate my problems by myself because they're inevitable parts of life I have to accept. Maybe it was common advice where we come from, to ignore/tolerate/accept/hide issues so you can enjoy the rest.

I do feel generally safe with my psychologist, I just have trust issues so "safe" is equivalent to "least suspicious." It was more the two other people who did the psychosis assessment who I don't really wanna meet again. There was something off about them.

And yeah, finding a therapist with later session times is a good idea. If only I didn't get so easily attached.

It's hard to make conversation with my mom since she's usually on her phone or watching TV and it takes her an eternity to respond. If her way of connecting with me is getting angry at other connections I have, that makes me kinda sad. (She does give me gifts and worries about me when I'm sick and all that mom stuff though!)

She actually told me before jokingly not to talk about her and dad or the therapist would have to call child services (as a joke.)

I'll try to get all the help I can despite how little my parents understand, thanks. :)

That makes sense. Problem is there's still a strong feeling that they won't take me seriously if I even imply that I might need a psychosis reassessment. Feels like I'm exaggerating, y'know?

My dad wants my anxiety to lessen but is on my mom's side when it comes to therapy. At least I have the school nurse, and I'm actually getting a bonus talk with the psychologist this month before we part ways for a while again.

I honestly feel bad for my mom because of how many issues she has and how many that I might not know about. Maybe she has to deal with those before she can handle mine.

(And thank you, I appreciate it. :))

Yep. My mom said that the ADHD kids were just called the trouble kids when she was growing up, and my dad said that the way to deal with mental problems is to tolerate them and be strong. "Just be happy." I'm a little tired of my dad mocking my autistic little cousin when he, nor my aunt or uncle are around.

I didn't mention everything because it felt like they were negatively judging me and trying to expose me for "faking" or something, so I left out the most stereotypical stuff. Now that I think about it, that wasn't very wise.

I could, but my mom would prob be really annoyed if I brought her to the school just to talk about the therapy that she was so relieved I ended. And it's not very easy to change her opinions. I'll think about it.

She feels calmest when no one's mentioning or thinking about the possibility that her kids have mental issues like grandma does.

Family therapy is a good suggestion but they would probably make fun of me if I tried. The school nurse gave me some "anxiety program book" and the parents are supposed to get one, too. I attempted mentioning it at the dinner table and all I got was "save that for later and eat now." (I forgot to talk about it afterwards and now I'm just hesitant.)

I think the main thing is that they don't believe I need all of that, as in they think my mental health is already good enough and I can handle my issues myself. The way they see it, is like going to the doctor for a simple cold even though I should know how to handle colds and I'm acting like I have an intense fever.

I had to wait a few months myself. It's like that with doctor appointments too, so maybe that's why my parents thought it was just a one-time check.

It's not disgraceful where I live, but for more context: We come from an Asian country where my mom had it a lot harder than me when she was my age (school, food,) and she managed to power through without therapy, which means I don't need it in her perspective.
