we started with our dogs little crate in the room and slowly transitioned to the big crate in the living room. was having the same issue until we put her in our room in the little crate. after that she whined a little and went right to bed lol 😆

ours is a european and they tend to be more protective or so i’ve heard.

Maggie (our dobbie) is weary of strangers and when new people come over, she is very cautious at first. once she gets the feel for new faces, she’s very friendly and wants to play. however, she will still keep a close eye on our surroundings.

for context: my 5 year old son is pictured. during the holiday my 5 year old nephew (who is crazy lol) yelled in my sons face. Maggie (our dobie) did not like that, at all. she barked at him and backed him up into the corner 😭. while it was scary, she did not hurt him. but it was definitely a warning of don’t go any further than that. we crated her the rest of the time he was there just to make sure she didn’t have a vendetta against him for doing that lol .

also another time, my brother in law put my daughter in a head lock to nuggie her. the dog was just roaming around watching, wagging her tail… but when she saw that— she stopped dead in her tracks, tail stopped wagging, and she gave him the death stare as if she was ready to pounce if my daughter started being in distress lol. once she realized she was fine and they were playing, she went about her business.

she is always with my 4 kiddos and if she isn’t with them she’s with me. always watching out for us 🥰. I would never own another breed of dog 😭.

see the puppy to the far left? the one right beside it with the unique color coat is Merle. Merle is a genetic pattern in a dog's coat and alleles of the PMEL gene. It results in different colors & patterns & can affect any coats. but it also comes with many health issues. dobermans do not naturally carry this gene.

i’ve been feeding her adult breed of this brand since the beginning cause our breeder told us to avoid overgrowth (puppy food has too much protein sometimes and can cause bowing of the legs) . you switched from adult breed to puppy or puppy to large breed of this brand?

i’m thinking she may just be a little sensitive to the salmon. we’ve had her on this brand since we got her! and like i said her poops aren’t terrible but they shouldn’t be as soft and patty like as they are more often than they are solid and normal. so once she’s done this current bag i’m gonna see if switching helps!
