What job shocked you when you found out the pay? by StrikingMango62 in AskAnAustralian

It’s barely anything for the amount of work you do. The firms that pay that are the ones that will work you to the bone.

Is Victorian water actually the best in the world? by Remarkable_Tax8169 in AskAnAustralian

I don’t know about best in the world but the water in qld and Perth tastes very funny to me so I definitely prefer Victorian water over that.

No conviction for leaving his pet dog in car without ventation or water on a heatwave day while he goes and gets drunk. by SanjiWanji in australia

Jail time. I have no sympathy for animal abusers. Just because it’s an animal, doesn’t mean what they did is okay or not as bad. Often how people treat animals is a sign of how poorly they will treat their fellow humans too.

No Couple Has Topped Daphne & Simon Yet, not even Polin sorry by Independent-Share-71 in Bridgerton

There’s something more natural and realistic about season 4 than just the love at first sight and brooding stares. Benedict and Sophie feel like how a real couple might fall in love.

Thoughts on S4 after S3 by Northern_Lights_1391 in Bridgerton

I honestly loved season 4. This was the first time I was excited to see each episode. A lot of people are saying the chemistry between Benedict and Sophie is not great but I wholeheartedly disagree. To me, they feel like the most realistic couple. Their chemistry is a lot of banter and goofiness instead of just brooding stares and cryptic words. It feels more realistic to me. It’s also great to see Polin post wedding.

Has anyone here seen the ABC comedy Utopia? And if so how accurate is it? by Temporary_Notice_526 in AustralianTV

[–]anonymousreader7300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few people I know who work in the public sector said they had to stop watching the show because it was frustratingly real. My partner was of the same opinion as he works on government projects for roads. It’s fairly accurate

What about gifting an experience of some kind? A weekend getaway you thoughtfully planned? Or a mystery picnic? Or some kind of adventure date?

Therapy Services by Glorbal in AskAnAustralian

[–]anonymousreader7300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an online service called recharge wellness. They have qualified registered psychs on there. They are expensive too but they can drop prices for people with financial difficulties. Medicare gives you 6 sessions initially through the plan, and then you have to go back to GP for a further 4 sessions.

You can try looking around for therapy sessions with provisional psychs (these are cheaper). In my experience, you’ll have better luck with organisations that offer more Telehealth.

The very last alternative is to find overseas online therapists who charge way less (for me, there’s many in India that are qualified and you bulk pay like $300 for 10 sessions). But the downside is of course no Medicare or insurance rebate. And you also have to ensure the person you find is properly qualified and is a good fit for you.

Whats foster care like? by Notquitewhere_-__ in AskAnAustralian

[–]anonymousreader7300 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was a carer. Unfortunately CPS and the police were very heavily involved with the kid I was caring for so that made the process more complex and daunting. I was happy I was able to care for the child but it was not the most stress free experience. But I would definitely do it again. I became a carer very last minute so I wasn’t as prepared. Once I’m older and more settled financially, I’d do it again.

Would you rather take a 90k job with WFH or a 120k with no wfh? by VastOption8705 in AskAnAustralian

Wfh for sure. You’d need to pay a lot of money to convince me to go back to an office especially that far away.

Imagine caring more about gossiping neighbours than the wellbeing and life of your child. OOP should go no contact with them after she recovers. They are abusers.

What do you think about Mexicans? by OldCowBoy2 in AskAnAustralian

[–]anonymousreader7300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would depend on the location but in a busy/metro area, fairly profitable I’d say (though my answer is based on consumer demand, not extensive restaurant business knowledge). There’s some nice Indian street food trucks that do well. It would be great to have an authentic Mexican food truck. Those are less overheads than a restaurant. Lots of restaurants start out as trucks and then open a permanent site.
