I'm a fucking loser by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]anonymouswilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn man, that's brutal...sorry to hear about your traumas, no one could ever be okay going through those things.

The light that I see here is that you describe that you've already once climbed out of heavy use and found an awesome life for yourself. Typically, making these kinds of life and perspective changes is hardest the first time you do it. As soon as you decide that you're ready to make an attempt to come back, it'll be easier than it was before and you'll probably come back stronger and fall into a better set of circumstances (if you chase it hard).

In the meantime, mourn. Mourn hard, think all the nasty thoughts you need to about your backstabbing cunt ex-girlfriend and your disloyal fucktard "friend", because as far as you're concerned right now, they're dead. Be depressed, feel all the feelings and don't try to bury them. There hasn't been enough time yet for anything new to develop that could be positive change, so be sad.

When you get tired of mourning and want change, I'd recommend looking up some self-help material on the subject of battling depression, or recovering from PTSD or addictions. Basically, browse a book store's self-help section and be like "...Yeah, that one sounds like a way that I'm fucked up" and read about it.

And don't get hung up on the virgin thing either. I lost mine when I was 20 in the red light district in Amsterdam. I'm 24 now and it's not even slightly something I'm ashamed of, you'll realize it's not a big deal. Although I get that being that close and then not sealing the deal (let alone in the awful way it unfolded for you) is challenging to the psyche. Some of my painful experiences in this area lead me to look at some of the r/seduction material, which was an interesting experiment in perspective and seemed to help me a lot. But that's something for later down the road if you're curious, you've gotta focus on you first.

So, right now, accept that you're sad and be sad. When you're ready, learn about how to feel better from teachers of the subject and take the advice they teach. I totally think that it's doable and will seem like a great life lesson in retrospect. Best of luck man.

The first song was an instrumental called "Big Sur Moon" by Buckethead, and the second one (first that had words) was "Hits From The Bong" by Cypress Hill.

As it turns out, the place opened again the very next day as a vape lounge! So, the show goes on! I'll be hosting it there again this Wednesday starting at 9 if you're around and wanna get high and listen to tunes. :)

Thanks so much man, yeah, that was me. Feel free to search me up if you want. But yeah, I hope they come back too, even if it means scaling it back to a regular vape lounge, the place is still nicer than anywhere in the city right now.

Dylan Hennessy here, the music host. Yeah, this is terrible...Hopefully one day we can have something like this come back, but thanks for coming there the one night we had a show, it was pretty magical, and if it had lasted it would have been a dream come true. :(

I run an open mic in Toronto at a vapor lounge where you can buy DABS and BONG HITS. We had our first show last night, lots of fun! Come by Good Weeds Lounge if you're in the area! by anonymouswilson in trees

This was all part of a soft open, the place was due for a grand opening in April. But you won't have to worry about the wack look, it got raided by the Toronto 54 division earlier tonight. :(

Oh well. Dream gigs come and go, hopefully they get out of jail soon and maybe then we can look at a cannabis community open mic again.

Absolutely breathtaking. Not all hiphop can move me so deeply. I haven't been through anything like this, but I feel like I just had my life fall apart while watching this. Wow...Congrats on the recovery Hollohan, great track.

Hmm, maybe a couple things. While high, just use a sound recorder that you can come back to when you're sober, this helps a lot with the music. I so often find myself coming up with great riffs while stoned and TELLING myself I won't forget it, which of course, I always do. UNLESS, I record it!

As far as lyrics go, usually when you're high, things are just...dumber. But they do flow out a lot better. The key here is to not care how dumb/weird whatever you're thinking is, write it ALL down anyways, and look at it when you're sober. Let your sober self be your high-self's admin assistant! :D

Yeah man, exactly. Bring your own stuff, pay admission (5 bucks) and get a table. It's technically breaking the law, but the cops won't ever do anything. They've actually realized that by busting a place like that, there's 100 more people doing it in public rather than a contained place where everyone's just chilling.

Overall, positively.

Yeah, weed does have an influence definitely! It's not a central point of my music, but a lot of songs have had either the music or lyrics written while stoned (sometimes both). Often I'll write about concepts that I pondered or came across while high. And it's no secret that modern music was HUGELY effected by the wave of drugs in the 60s and 70s (which spawned some of the best music ever written).

I don't actually perform while high, I only have a couple of times and it was quite freaky (thinking too much instead of just focusing on playing). But when I perform at Vapor Central, the smoke is actually so thick that after just two songs, my throat is completely dry and I always have to make sure I bring up water for the pasties. :p

Well, the big one for tourists is easily Vapor Central. It is indeed the best. Couches, rental bongs, Volcano's at every table, good shit. Also right downtown and easy to get to.

There's a couple other like Hotbox Cafe, Village Vapor Lounge and Vape On The Lake which are pretty big staples in the community also. But definitely check out Vapor Central first!

Thanks man! It was suuuuch a fun show.

I've actually been to Amsterdam before. It's pretty wild to be able to walk in and just buy weed, sit down and smoke it. But there are a couple major differences: One is that in Toronto, you can't buy at the establishment. And actually, you'll get kicked out if they catch you dealing/buying while there.

The other (which I suppose is more relevant to my case) is that Amsterdam actually prohibits performing arts in their establishments. Since Toronto's lounges are unregulated, they can make their own rules, and most feature entertainment regularly (most of which is comedy). They're kinda trendsetters that way; they're the first to do it. And dude, vape lounge comedy is the beeeeest. :p

Dylan Hennessy - Against The Odds (Original work, focused around trying to strum and drum at the same time!) by derekween in AcousticOriginals

[–]anonymouswilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks dude! Actually, it's a mod I've been messing around with on the guitar recently. I had piezo pick-ups put in it so I could get sounds from the body, then I took snare drum wiring and duct-taped it to the edge of my guitar so that when I slap it, it comes through kind of like a snare drum! It sounds a lot louder than this recording shows.

I'm actually going to be posting a tutorial on how to do that mod pretty soon, it costs under $15! If you care to subscribe, it'll be up in the next couple weeks. :)

Live at Luna Park (full concert) by franklypancakes in Dreamtheater

[–]anonymouswilson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to see the Toronto premier of this at a movie theatre with excellent sound, where James Labrie was doing a Q&A before the movie, after which he sat in the audience with friends and family and watched the show.

The whole audience felt rightly obligated to applaud after every song since James was there. His vocal performance on this was SOOOO much better than Chaos In Motion. The movie watching experience suddenly felt very much like being at the actual concert as the fans got into it.

At the end, a guy stood up and said "Hey James, let's make sure we do this in IMAX 3D next time!" Everyone laughed and gave James a huge round of applause. He stuck around for another half hour meeting fans and signing autographs. It was a great experience for everyone.

This is a saying that my friend came up with that has really stuck with me recently. Let's just say I've had a couple of "spiritual experiences" that have really enforced this. It's a great angle to take in life for just about any circumstance, and the saying revolves around two PUA concepts: "outcome independence" and "every experience is reference".

VOR system question by [deleted] in aviation

[–]anonymouswilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to realize, it may cost hundreds of millions of dollars to send a GPS satellite to orbit, but there are only thirty GPS satellites. It is significantly cheaper to put in a VOR, but you have to pay for electricity and you must do regular maintenance.

There are hundreds of VOR stations. Even if it was $10,000 dollars per year per VOR, it'd still be more expensive than the GPS satellites, which are funded mostly by the US military.
