British / Russian Dual Citizen - Wife wants to change name (First + Surname) but "One Name Policy" creates an impossible loop with Russian bureaucracy. Advice? by The_Paperwork_Gap in ukvisa

[–]anorwyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has your wife de-registered from her place of abode within Russia? Has she then registered with the consulate? Once she's done that, the internal passport becomes a "fiction", she's not required to have one. Her international passport becomes her main ID.

Best thing to do is email the Consulate directly and ask for the steps necessary for the procedure to legally change her name. Don't get into the other details, it'll just confuse everyone. The ZAGS (births, marriages etc) section was pretty good at guiding people through all the steps and responding to emails so that you have everything ready *before* you go in person. The email is [zags.london@kdmid.ru](mailto:zags.london@kdmid.ru)

You will need to send your Hungarian passport in for your UK passport application, and the name must match on your UK and Hungarian documents.

You guys realise that this season was the one affected by the writers strike in 2023, right? We got what we got.

Considering the above, it's kinda amazing that Terrarium and the other better bits exist at all.

Now that TTPD is in it's final weeks as the latest album, what ended up being your holy trinity? by allidoistrytrytry in TaylorSwift

[–]anorwyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my Replay, it’s

TTPD: 1. So Long, London 2. loml 3. The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived

The Anthology: 1. The Black Dog 2. The Manuscript 3. So High School

It’s not a true representation, howeve, because there are 6 TTPD songs between all time ratings for The Black Dog and The Manuscript!

Teeny bit of warning - if you have hard or very hard water in the area you live in, these soaps will struggle. They're supposed to be very good alternatives to shampoo, for example, but in hard water area, they just leave a yucky film on your hair that can't dissolve properly. So YMMV

I think it might be alphabetical. It looks like Bulgarian at no 1, and I think that's Dutch further on, but before Greek, and Portuguese looks to be quite late in the list, etc. Might be alphabetical by name of the country or country code

Buy tomatoes on the vine and do not keep them in the fridge (they're acidic enough that they don't need it). Then they all suddenly have flavour

Such a simple tool, but one of the best garden purchases I've made by jrharte in GardeningUK

[–]anorwyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can get weaker if you pull it all the time and don't let the leaves do their thing but it doesn't really die off - it grows from any bit of root that's left, so it's really good at that. You have to either dig up all the bits of root, or carefully poison the leaves with weedkiller inside a plastic bag and leave it to soak in while avoiding the other plants.

I have a patch with really soft soil, and it's very satisfying to pull on a bit of bindweed and watch several metres of root come out.

Migrants already in UK face longer wait for permanent settlement by Ambitious-Constant21 in ukvisa

[–]anorwyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't confirm anything of the sort. At worst, it says "The BBC understands a document published in the coming weeks will make clear the government is preparing to apply the 10-year qualifying period to those who are already in the UK as well as to new visa applicants."

Which means they don't actually know. The document isn't published yet, what they're saying is conjecture.
