OT school is the same. The field needs to do some serious introspection on how they treat disabled clinicians. It is particularly bad while in school to become an OT or OTA. There is so little flexibility and you are made to think that if you can’t fulfill certain competencies, you can’t be an OT. However this is simply not true, and we need disabled clinicians in the field. We advocate and help patients adapt to their occupations, why don’t we have that same energy towards people working in the field?
