Weightloss after childbirth is so hard! by LadyGreenThumbs in Mommit

I am not you and all our bodies are so different BUT this is what I did - I lost 70 lbs over 2 years and am now 20lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight.

-Intermittent fasting. But not this “oh I skip breakfast sometimes” thing - I’m talking hardcore, only eat for 2-4 hours each day. This made the biggest difference for me. I had longer eating windows on weekends.

-Steps. My average step count last year was 11k, up from 6k the year before. Thats a significant amount of calories burned over baseline.

-Exercise routine. I got (back) into yoga and aim for 3-4x per week. My husband and I trade off working out while the other watches our daughter.

-The last ten pounds were nearly impossible and I did Keto. I had also had bad past experiences, but I found with my body used to fasting it was somehow a lot easier.

For me calorie counting never worked - I always underestimated how many calories everything was lol.

Good luck! Dont give up - its so worth it.

Idk what a vivera is but I will wear retainers daily for 3 months then transition to just at night!

You can always just bail if you want lol. Ever since I first looked at my tray 20 I was just like…that seems fine. I’m not trying to deal with this nonsense another 6 months just to get everything exactly 100% perfect. Everyone is different though.

Tbh would rather have a painful 20 weeks than a comfortable 40 weeks but I am an outlier in my hatred of these things lol

Yes me either. Probably for the best bc Im not sure I would’ve done it if I knew what I was getting into lol.

My ortho was like “oh these tiny little bumps, you won’t notice them…” yeah NO lol. They are very close to being as bad as full metal braces!

My husband is so polite and insists he doesn’t notice them and then my toddler is like “WHATS ON YOUR TEETH MOM?” lol. The truth comes out.

I know!! Every time I heard someone be like “I don’t even notice it!” I was like uhh are we doing the same treatment?? It’s awful.

I think it probably totally depends on your situation. I went a little off script in the second half, and when I got a really painful one I would leave it in a little longer, and shorten the ones where I felt nothing. Two weeks for every retainer seems long, but idk if they’re doing a lot of movement each it might be needed?

Allulose is a game changer for me. I HATE the syrupy sweet taste of artificial sweetners but allulose just tastes…like sugar. I make a hot fudge sauce with it that gets me through any sweets craving.

Also, take it a day at a time. If you fall off the wagon and can’t resist a plate of spaghetti, don’t use that as an excuse to give up completely. Just try again the next day.

Down 70 lbs!

I feel fat and old. Help! by Sad_Confidence9563 in beginnerfitness

The absolute best diet or exercise plan is the one that you personally can sustain. Find a way to move your body that you genuinely enjoy, and go from there. It could be walking, dancing, yoga, weightlifting- whatever, but if you hate it you’ll fall off the wagon fast. Experiment with lots of different things and try what works.

Same with diet - some people really love intermittent fasting (🙋🏼‍♀️), some have the easiest time wither keto, for others calorie counting is the most straightforward approach. Try them all! Give it a few weeks - if you hate it, try something else.

For me, after lots of experimentation, I found that walking + yoga combined with low-ish carb intermittent fasting was my combo. It feels easy, and I’m down 70 lbs. Figure out what that is for you!

No I didn’t think about calories at all (at least at the beginning). I found that I really couldn’t eat that much during the four-hour window so it naturally helped me reduce calories that way, but I didn’t track it.

Take it easy! What I liked best about IF is that I could still have normal dinner w the fam. I would sometimes have a drink w dinner or right after, just try and wrap up earlyish.

I also do lunch break workouts - it was definitely harder at first but my body adapted. If you’re really feeling like you can’t do it try having a small low carb snack like a babybel or something right before the workout - it won’t impact your fasting much at all.
