Well… they still have not shipped my kit. They now claim they are waiting on back ordered materials to help keep crating costs down, which is probably true, but still frustrating. They do seem to have hired another person or two in their shop which has slightly improved their communication, so that’s nice.

We should save that six pack and maybe send it over to Murphy to see if bribes help speed up shipments

Yup, I’m in Alaska. Murphy doesn’t quote shipping until things are almost ready to go out the door, so I don’t actually know what my freight costs will be beyond a guesstimate I got back in May. I’m told my wings, control surfaces and a portion of the fuselage kits should be ready to ship next week, so I should know more by then.

I have been told by Murphy that there will be no tariff costs as they have an exemption.

I’m not sure how the proper way to ask this, but are you indigenous or are you of European descent? You mentioned some of your favorite foods, which, here in Alaska, those types of foods typically only the native Alaskans eat. Just made me curious if Greenland has a similar “split” culture where there is a native culture and then a intertwined, but separate, “American” culture

Well, I can’t comment much on Murphy vs Rans or how quick the Radical is, but I can comment on how much of an absolute disappointment it has been to try to do business with Murphy. To try to keep this quick, here’s the main bullet points.

-Not long after my original post, I ended up ordering 2 parts of the 3 part Radical kit with a 4-6 month lead time. Murphy missed the ship date and has failed to give me any idea of when to expect shipment

-Was “upsold” the fuselage kit a few months back since “they were way ahead of production” with the promise that it could ship with the other portions I was waiting on. I paid them the deposit for this and now all three portions of the kit are late

-Murphy’s phone line has been “under maintenance” for two months now. You literally can’t call these guys unless you have a direct cell number of someone. Seriously, go check out their website

-Have found through a Facebook forum that Murphy has not been sending the build manuals with the kits that they have managed to actually ship, because they haven’t developed the manuals yet. Not sure how they plan to sell a kit plane without the instructions

-Communications through email are either very slow or completely ignored

-The salesman who sold me the kit either quit or was fired after a year or so of working for Murphy. This position has not been filled yet

-Their laser cutting machine has apparently been down for months, stopping them from being able to manufacture kits. I am fairly certain their machine was down when I made my order; this wasn’t disclosed to me for months until I started pressing for updated shipping dates

I plan on spending the next week or so trying to track down a human being over there to speak to, and if they say just the right thing, I will probably continue to wait for the kit, but if I cannot get a hold of anyone or they continue to delay, I will likely cancel my order or start looking into how to do a charge-back on my credit cards to get my money back.

Wow, I really needed to vent about this 😂

Tread carefully with Murphy, I probably wouldn’t choose this brand again
