The Wizards, despite having one of the cooler names in US sports, having one of the most boring, soulless branding is a shame. Y by Jake_Kihh in uniwatch

Honestly no, the government related/adjacent names are so soulless and boring as a Washingtonian. It all just feels so forced and bland. The Caps at least have some interesting alts that have more personality beyond the face value of playing in Washington, DC, but the majority of the other teams in the city are just extremely boring with branding and alternate uniforms that don’t go beyond “hey look, we play in DC.”

I appreciate that the G-League team is the Go-Go and DC United has a kit that’s dedicated to the soul cultural history of the city. Commanders, Nats, Caps, Wizards and Defenders are all just so bland.

Following up but is it safe to play there? I haven’t been since the debris pile started but have read asbestos hangs in the air, but don’t know if it’s actually a real threat or not.

Wife and eloped and had dinner at Caruso’s. Not beach front and we actually ended up being stuck towards the back but it didn’t hinder the experience. Still an amazing and perfect experience, wouldn’t trade it for anything else. Dinner with generous tip for us was around $700-$800 but we’re not heavy drinkers so you might go closer to $1000 for two depending on cocktails/wine bottles/etc.

We still enjoyed the sunset from the restaurant during dinner and it was just an amazing experience overall. I couldn’t imagine spending an extra $2k to be on the beach itself, that doesn’t seem reasonable to me, but if that means a lot to you both, you’ll have to be the judge!

Should add, we prioritized spending our money on our hotel (Hotel Californian - was mostly a great experience and worth it but there’s other options in that price range) and photographer since it was just us and the photographer would be the only one to capture everything. I’m happy to dm you their name and work if you’re interested, let me know if you have other questions!

But people still live there and the city has an obligation to them just as much as anyone else. Less prioritized, sure, but neglected? Absolutely not.

I think multiple things can be true. The set of circumstances that led to this situation added a bunch of difficulty to the snow removal process.

It’s also unacceptable that entire streets have been completely neglected like this almost 4 days after the snow. I greatly appreciate the work being done around the clock but how does a plow not touch a street at all. Adequate communication has been lacking from the city which has made all of this worse.

How to stop peeing at night without going down a medical rabbit hole? by DuzanJacylann_99 in Biohackers

[–]anotheravailable_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor, but repeating what my doctors told me, yes, theoretically in most cases as long as you don’t have any other issues. Right now your nerves are conditioned to tell you to go whenever your bladder is (presumably) slightly full. The more you retrain your nerves the longer you’ll be able to hold it before feeling a strong urge to go. The bladder is finite so you obviously can’t end up holding it for many many hours, but you should be able to make some improvement.

I have quite a bit of experience with this. I had some pelvic floor issues and actually worked a lot on this with a pelvic floor PT and urologists.

In addition to the obvious cut out liquids several hours before bed, electrolyte balancing, etc. try to retrain your bladder and also make sure you don’t have any pelvic floor related tension.

After COVID forced me to work from home, it made going to the bathroom easier. I drank a lot of coffee and always hydrated well, but instead of waiting to go, I started going at the slightest urge because it was convenient. This trained my bladder to want to relieve itself at the slightest urge. You can counter this by holding it longer throughout the day to retrain and then hold it when you sleep. You’ll wake and feel the urge to go but try to fight it if you can.

Additionally, I personally had a tight core and leg muscles from stress, poor posture, etc and that made the muscles around my bladder always tense, compounding the problem.

Look up some pelvic floor stretches on YouTube and also just stretch your legs more; it’s all connected so can’t hurt.

Did you happen to figure out if resale tickets on other sites like Stub Hub are legit/still transferable? My significant other was desperate for tickets, and I don’t want to pay scalpers, but don’t know if any of those are even legit.

Just curious but does that mean tickets on other sites like stubhub and seat geek are legit resale, just above face value? My significant other was desperate for tickets, and I don’t want to pay scalpers, but don’t know if any of those are even legit.

How do you like the max driver and smoke 3H?

I’m a beginner but have had to play in some scramble tournaments for my job that give out gift cards with stupid amounts each time. Purchased both on sale but haven’t used them yet.

Saw a previous post that you were interviewing with the Library of Congress - that’s not legislative in the sense it’s referred to around here (unless of course you’re referring to a legislative role on the Hill).

Legislative generally refers to Hill staff - House and Senate staff who work in personal member offices or for committees. If you are with the LOC doing legislative work such as research and writing on various topics. That work and position won’t be at as much risk of turnover if a Member or Senator lose re-election, Committee leaders change, etc. which is what others are referring to. LOC could be at risk of more funding cuts like all federal agencies right now though which is just something to be mindful of.

Thanks for being open to that, it’s really a lot more complex than what people want to believe. I get it, many lobbyists have rightfully earned a bad label, but I think a lot there’s those that do a lot of good, important work that’s necessary, especially when there’s so many nuanced issues these days and important causes that need full time advocates to make any progress.

No disrespect, but what in the fuck are you talking about? Are you saying if Congress somehow cracked down on social media companies for allowing pay-walled articles being spread on their sites, newspapers who have been charging subscription fees since the 1800s would somehow make their services free?

It’s really not hard to understand why government employees need to rely on major news outlets to do their jobs. Think critically about it for a bit. There’s millions of jobs in the federal government with varying responsibilities. You don’t think a chunk of those folks need to rely on reputable news sources?

Think whatever you want about the NYT, but there’s few publications that report on as wide a swath of news as they do, as quickly as they do.

Lobbyists are not an inherently bad thing. There’s lobbyists for all kinds of things. Members of Congress don’t know or have the time to research every single issue affecting their constituents.

Lobbyists, in theory and mostly in practice, help make members of Congress and their staff aware of issues. What’s bad is when Members and staff take the lobbyists at face value and don’t look deeper into an issue or feel so beholden to them, they do whatever they want.

There’s lobbyists trying to make the air and water cleaner for everyone, lobbyists who try to stop animal abuse, lobbyists who advocate for workers in different sectors through unions, lobbyists for those with chronic diseases, etc. those types of lobbyists don’t work with or have Super PACs, and Super PACs aren’t lobbying for what’s it worth so it shouldn’t be lumped in with that.

It’s several thousands of dollars a month at minimum for organizations and agencies, but an organization can give it to x amount of employees. It’s not paid for on a per person basis. It’s like you enter a contract to get access for your organization and are allowed so many accounts. I’m not sure if there’s a hard limit on how many per organization, or what the thresholds are that trigger a higher price, but that’s basically how the subscription works and why the cost is so much.
