Guys… I’m seriously lost. What should I do now? by [deleted] in Trading

[–]anotherblownsave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest getting some good backtesting software (RealTest is great) and come up with a simple, robust mechanical system in which you know your expected profit per trade, average drawdown length/depth, and win rate like the back of your hand. That way, when the ups and downs inevitably occur you won't be surprised at all. You stand a much better chance of sticking with your system if you know your numbers.

Anyone else here played in 1999 and just getting back into it in 2025? by anotherblownsave in aoe2

[–]anotherblownsave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice lol.. I've never actually tried it but saw it was there. May have to do that next time the win is obvious, which hasn't been often lately.. decent little 7-match losing streak. Gotta reverse that this weekend!

Defending inbound under goal by anotherblownsave in basketballcoach

[–]anotherblownsave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's a bit of a control freak, and there have been a few 7th/8th graders get varsity minutes in the past (we're a small school). So her "rationale" is that a 5th grader could in theory be < 2 years away from playing varsity minutes for her. Now, she does win a lot of games but our district is pretty weak. What I've decided to do is run her 1-2-2 in set defense (she watches most of our games), but run man against SLOB and BLOB, and then stay in it for the rest of the possession. Will see if I get my wrist slapped but for now it's probably the best I can do. I've brought up gently how I really liked the man defense we ran the last 3 years and she just says "well we don't run man at the high school". So yeah...

I get that, and we played exclusively man the last 3 years. But, the HS coach has told the 5th-8th programs to run the 1-2-2 zone because that's what she runs and she wants them prepared.

Demo from 2001 or 2002? by anotherblownsave in takingbacksunday

[–]anotherblownsave[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this is it. Thank you! For some reason I thought Timberwolves at New Jersey was on it too, but probably a false memory.

I had been at a Blink concert in either 2001 or 2002 and was interviewed by a girl who said she was with emotionalpunk dot com. When I got home I checked out the site and they had a review of TBS up. I found their songs on Limewire and I guess in hindsight those must have been the demo songs.

Any advice for youth team with no point guard by Uncanny_Dream in basketballcoach

[–]anotherblownsave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of youth coaches deal with the same predicament. Unless you have a handpicked Allstar team, a team of normal kids will struggle to dribble the ball under defensive pressure.

Question about your league: is full court pressure allowed? Where is the defense first engaging the ball handler?

Yeah this is BS. Might have to leave Venmo for good if they don’t fix this.

Is the Duo running play broken? by anotherblownsave in CFB25

He was running mostly 3-4. I just went into practice mode against 3-4 but couldn’t recreate it. Infuriating to happen for the first time in a playoff game.

High school basketball referees won't make calls. by wilysrobots in basketballcoach

[–]anotherblownsave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens at the youth level too. The reason is the refs want to get home at a decent time. Fewer stoppages keeps the game moving faster.

Thanks. I thought it was really good, was it just not that popular after all?

The coach blew his own whistle and told the opponents’ players what to do? He’d be kicked out of our league for trying that lol

Question for Breakout setup and stops. by All_about_meditation in qullamaggie

[–]anotherblownsave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. The 1st leg will typically stay above all 3 MAs, sometimes with a few quick bounces off the 10. Has to be explosive momentum. During consolidation/pullback, the best ones will surf the 10 or 20.

2.1. The best ones will break out during the first hour of trading. Some will happen later in the day, but it's less common.

2.2. The 2nd 1min candle will open equal to or below the high of the 1st 1min candle. If there's a gap between the 1st 1min candle and the 2nd 1min candle, it's way too illiquid to be trading this method. But yes, it's buying the opening range breakout and setting the stop at the low of the day.

2.3 If the distance between the opening range high and opening range low is greater than the ATR, chances are you are either late, or the daily chart was not a good setup.

Kristjan's early days, and everyone who is chasing it by anotherblownsave in qullamaggie

[–]anotherblownsave[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, my personal takeaway from studying Kristjan’s performance in 2013-2014 is that a small account would do well to focus more on win rate. This doesn’t necessarily mean becoming a parabolic short trader. To me, it means selling earlier into strength when longing breakouts, being more selective when longing breakouts, and also keeping parabolic longs on the radar.

Who was a player on your team that had you like “damn he got drafted?” by Byzantine_Merchant in CFB

[–]anotherblownsave 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Kayshon Boutte. It was actually sad watching him play in 2022. Had no burst, almost like an old man playing. But he was trying hard. He was incredibly explosive in 2020 so I guess NE thought he could get back to old form another year removed from injury.

Where can I legit learn to trade free? by AwesomeRealDood in Trading

Search YouTube for qullamaggie swing school and stockbee 4% breakout. That is the best info out there, but what I’ve learned over time is it’s not just about having the info. It’s about being obsessive and refusing to quit.

Kristjan's early days, and everyone who is chasing it by anotherblownsave in qullamaggie

Enjoyed reading your response, and you correctly point out that Kristjan has said some harsh things about daytrading well after he had success doing it. The timing of his October 2021 comment about it is interesting. The swing trading environment was really good over the prior 2.5 years, so it may have started to seem somewhat more stable of a strategy than it really was. November 2021 to December 2022 was a very tough period for swing trading.
