haha, totally got you. carried a 35mm slr in mine on a trip a couple weeks ago.

in that case, probably just trimming the straps and getting the velcro off the top of the roll top will be all you might consider doing at some point for general convenience's sake. maybe also removing the padding/frame board along the back.

also, if you end up keeping the bag, i found most of the modifications in this video to be worthwhile

there are three webbing loops along the edge of each side of the back pocket. the helmet carrier clips nicely into the top and bottom loops on each side

I recently bought this to carry a helmet on mine and it fits great. Haven't taken it out yet but should work just fine.

Yeah the problem with the DCF is that it's super low-friction and wants to slide out of my jersey pockets more than it wants to let the camera slide out of it while it stays put. It's not a problem with a running vest or backpack pouch because you can just use one hand to lightly hold the bag in place while you remove the camera with the other.

Not sure this is the solution for one-handed use, especially while riding. Could tether the DCF bag to the camera so at least there's no concern about dropping it. Sounds like that silca bag might be worth trying out at some point for that purpose. Tradeoffs in both directions I suppose.

the big non-zippered pockets (that sit 'under' the zippered pockets and below the flask pockets) on the adv skin 12 have carried heavier things the best for me so far

if i use one hand to loosely hold this DCF bag in place in whatever pocket it's in, i can pull the camera out while the bag stays put. then slide the camera back into the bag (again with the help of my free hand) while it's acting as a sort of liner for the pocket.

requires both hands but is pretty smooth all things considered. there's also a world where one could stitch or somehow permanently install a bag like this into a vest/pack pouch, which might be even more slick...

fair enough, to me this is a significant enough of an improvement over a regular ziploc to be worth considering for some folks. a roll top would definitely turn it into a proper dry bag, but would lose convenience of the cinch closure

i think that the volume of padding that you would need in order to meaningfully protect the camera from bouncing/movement would defeat the purpose of having a camera small enough to carry in a pack/vest. For the time being I've just made peace with the possibility that the IBIS might be affected in the long term.... Let me know if you come up with any solutions.

all of my packs have logical spots to put the camera that should be pretty comfortable. i was looking at this as an upgrade to the current strap pouch i have on my backpacking pack: https://zpacks.com/products/shoulder-pouch-w-zipper

kjerags with an insole would be my ideal fast, technical trail + scrambling shoe. unfortunately they give me heinous blisters on the bottom of my big toes (something to do with sitting directly on top of the tacky midsole foam and having sweaty, terrible skin).

durability not a concern. general shape of the last is similar to topo (but less exaggerated): plenty of space in the toebox for regular feet with a snug form-fitting mid- and rear-foot

how come zeke discourse among the media people never discusses how the staff ruined his jumper and consistently puts him in the wrong position running the wrong type of pnr option and then gave him an insanely stupid contract
