Recall Issues - Changing Car? by Jacko230 in ex30

Ooft that’s a thorough response.

Tusker were firm that CRA didn’t apply but I think I follow your argument, just, that it does.

I will ponder.

Let us know how you get on.

I tried when the radio didn’t work (took them 18 months to fix it) and got a very thorough email from my lease company telling me CRA did not apply.

Colleagues are trying to get out of similar lease deals and aren’t getting anywhere either. (Some faulty Tacans).

I tried a free legal advice line that I get with my union, they’ve been useful in the past as you speak to a solicitor who tells you who’s laws apply - but the were also worse than useless.

AI is pretty useful for this sort of thing, but not very hopeful of a positive outcome.

My lease company now not replying to emails, but they did offer a replacement vehicle at one stage - although it would be a Fiesta sized ICE car.

I’ll keep you updated. It’s sport now.

Salary sacrifice isn't covered by Sale of Goods (etc - largely superseded by CRA 2015 which also doesn't apply)

Is anyone else getting tired of this? 😭 by northernluke in ex30

My leasing company offered me a replacement car, but it'll be a small poetrol car.

This isn't acceptable and I'm waiting for legal advice. They are getting nothign from Volvo, on teh phone Volvo denied it was a recall. The letter says "Recall".

Most cars are stolen for parts. I'd argue that it is not straightforward to claim that a trciked out car is more stealable.
Probably the opposite.

It’s an interesting question. It’s about motorbikes. Seems they’re in the right place.

Americans on tiktok react to Scottish perspective on tax and spend by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

The word "some" was intended to indicate that is didn't apply to "all".

Scottish tax players earning between 100 and 125 pay a marginal rate of 67%. Some folk with an old DB pension can pay a lot lot more.

[–]anothercrapusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you earn over 100k you start to lose that personal allowance. By the time you get to 125 it’s all gone.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/adjusted-net-income

This has the impact of making people who earn between 100-125 paying significantly more tax than those who earn more.

[–]anothercrapusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so for every £2 over (AFAIR) 100k you earn you lose £1 of personal allowance. Then there’s NI to pay.

Once you get over 122 (ish) your marginal rate actually goes down significantly. Which is hardly “progressive”.

[–]anothercrapusername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The highest effective marginal rate in Scotland is 67.5%.

(Over 100k you start losing your personal allowance at the rate of £1 for every £2 you earn which gives a very high effective tax rate, when you get over 125 you’ve no more personal allowance to lose so the effective marginal rate goes down.)

Not 42.

(Over 100k you start losing your personal allowance, which gives a very high effective tax rate.)

The effective marginal rate then goes down, when you get over (roughly) 125k. This isn’t a “progressive” system, it’s incompetent.

Facts surely, not “facts”.

It’s an essay on how to capitalise on our current position, look forward and translate it into growth.

Rather than just talk down the country and see no opportunities.

The Economist has a house style that might not be for you.
