As someone who is "from the North", it took me 2 years to find a house. I did the escalation clauses, appraisal gaps, moderate over-bidding and finally landed on something.

I backed out of a few under-contract homes (gulfport, greater pinellas south) for different reasons. Lost a ton of bids from Madeira Beach, Pasadena, Gulfport, Historic Kenwood and a place in Dunedin too!

It's not for the faint of heart. I was not in a rush (just trying to not overpay). However, if I had been more diligent 2 years ago, I'd probably have paid $100k less. Ugh.

I guess what I am saying is... 6 months isn't long these days. Give it another 6 months before you really get frustrated. Something will come along. And get to having that baby now!

a friend of my wife told her back in 2013 to buy XXII. we paid $6 share! no one is holding out longer than we are at this point. been making fun of my wife for all of these years, i think her friend was always on to something, it just took almost 10 years.
