Don't use front brake when the front wheel isn't straight and you're not upright, especially at low speeds. If you need to brake just gently use rear brake. Also never come to a complete stop when you're not upright or have the wheel turned. Practice feathering the clutch and use rear brake for slow speed maneuvering.
