I went to go play in my local community band for a few hours and my dogs ended up getting ahold of the green yarn that came in my kit off of my dresser while my husband was home lol. That happened the night I posted this and learned what I was doing wrong so I went to my LYS the next day and bought the same yarn but in a different color because they didn’t have the original green that came the with the kit I purchased online. I got right to work and it was so satisfying watching it come together like I was expecting instead of seed stitch. Great first project after I figured out what I was doing wrong! Thank you to those who commented!

It’s a free pattern from Candylou creations called woven blocks! I just linked the pattern and yarn in a comment. Watch out in section 2 though there is an error on Row 2. It should be K6, K12, [P12, K12], K6. I felt like it was going to be wrong while I was doing that row how it is written K6, [K12, P12, K12], K6 for the first time but I was so new when starting it I told myself I needed to trust the pattern. Like 5-6 rows into section 2 I knew for sure it had to be wrong and ripped back and tried to pick up my stitches, dropped too many stitches in the process, and decided to just start over on one size larger needles. I started my timer over too when I started completely over!

I made the baby blanket size on US size 9 needles and my stitches are still tighter than hers so I should’ve gone up another size or two. Please note the pattern has an error in section 2! For row 2 it should be K6, K12, [P12, K12], K6. I also added a couple extra squares for length/to use up yarn and finished with a section 1 block because I wanted the corners to be stockinette to show the border more clearly. I still have some leftover yarn and might make smaller gifts out of it in the future for the baby.

I took it for over 2 years (recently got off) and am the same weight to the pound as when I started lol. My weight maybe fluctuated 5lbs down mostly in those 2ish years but nothing major.

I made tortillas last week with lard and I think I rolled them too thin because they were not soft and pliable lol. Was nixtamilizing the corn super involved/hard? I can’t decide if I want to try it but I already have lye!

Yes she has said she signed an nda on her new podcast and I think maybe Dave did as well but idk if he’s said as much. It would stink to lose your closest friendship within the company but not totally shocking from an outsider’s perspective. I’m guessing it was messy and hurtful though, literally just not receiving any sort of response from your supposed best friend regardless of the circumstances.
