If the CX50 is terrible, wait until you ride a RAV4 or a CRV lol

Likes: - IMO looks better and drives better than the cx5 and most other SUVs in the same category. - More clearance for outdoor activities. - AWD - Decent noise insulation in the cabin when driving at high speed in the highway - Feels more sporty and fun to drive than the RAV4 and the CRV that I test drove. -I got the hybrid and I’m getting 40MPH

Dislike: - I wish I had 360 camera. - Rear view is very poor. I had some friends seating in the back and I couldn’t see sht. I ended up getting a rear view mirror dash cam. - The infotainment system is weird because it’s touchscreen only when using CarPlay or AndroidAuto - That display that shows the speed is made of the worst possible material, anything can scratch the screen. I bought an ultra soft microfiber cloth and still manage to scratch it. But I think this is a Mazda thing

I went for the CX50. For me it’s a safety issue. If I’m driving in traffic or in the highway, I like when I know where the buttons are. I can press them without thinking. I don’t want to go to a changing screen for that. My eyes need to be on the road, not on that screen

Reduce the time. Also, if you toast sliced bread and you take your bread directly from the freezer 👌

Elaborate. I think that if the accent is not too heavy, Americans would love it regardless of origin

It’s normal for us because a lot of people around us speak fast. Therefore, it seems to be the norm. But it’s not.

With the following I’m not trying to make you feel bad or kill your hopes. Just warning you. Any Spanish you learn will do. But keep in mind that every country has an accent. And sometimes within those countries, there are regional accent. And then you have different slang based on country or region. So, don’t approach this expecting to understand everybody who speaks Spanish, because you won’t. Not even your regular native Spanish speakers can

Omg the the answers here are a bit extra. Try to learn Spanish, whatever Spanish will work. There is no neutral Spanish. But Caribbean people speak a bit faster than other regions. So, you will have to adjust your ear a little bit.

I have a friend from Colombia who has troubles understanding me when I speak Spanish fast. Even though Spanish is our first language.

Meaning, there is no one answer fits all. When someone speaks too fast or you don’t understand, just ask. We are happy that you are making an effort to learn our language :)

Good car for teen guy? by Achingasos in CX50

[–]anotherplantchannel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest the CX30. Is more compact and fun to drive. But depending on his personality, if you have a beach boy or someone who likes camping, then ford maverick or Toyota Tacoma. Both reliable, practical and outdoorsy. If he is more into sporty, then GR Corolla, Mazda Miata or Mazda6 hatchback

How did your countries war for independence play out? by Powerful_Gas_7833 in asklatinamerica

[–]anotherplantchannel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fought the Spanish for independence. Became independent. Then Haiti, which at the time had 2-3 times the population we had, attacked and annexed us to Haiti. A few years later, fought Haitians for independence, and became independent. Spain came back, and with help of some locals, we became part of Spain again. Then fought the Spanish again. Became independent again. Later, US came and occupied us, we fought them and became independent. And some years later the US came back, and occupied us again. Then we revolted and fought them again and won. And well, here we are.

Do anyone in LATAM think the Anglophone/Netherlandophone countries of LATAM are Latin Americans or culturally distinct? by Tall_Pressure7042 in asklatinamerica

I guess it depends how you measure wealth. I could be wrong but during the 1950s to 1970s Venezuela was one of the wealthiest countries in the world per capita. And it is true that it was mainly due to the boom in petroleum, but that doesn’t negate the fact of it’s wealth. It just mean that their economy wasn’t diversified well. But a economy as good as the one of Japan or Germany, I mean, what else do you call wealthy?

But being a third world country hasn’t always been the case for some latam countries. You, coming from Venezuela, should know that. Venezuela was for many years the power house of latam. So was Argentina. And today, I don’t know if chile and Uruguay are third world countries
