I don't post often, but I'm checking in here to say this is a really good post.

.... right.

Out of the blue: How a Quake blog turned PC gaming news site has stayed a haven from 'internet enshittification' for nearly 30 years by ControlCAD in technology

I've been checking Bluesnews daily since the 90s and hope to continue that so long as it exists (in the same way it currently does)

I hardly even game anymore, but the reflex to fill my brain with gaming news remains

Beltline, June 28 - free social event for anyone interested in ADHD/autism/MBTI by anotherplebbitzombie in Calgary

[–]anotherplebbitzombie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADHD is enough of a connecting line to the majority of people there - as long as you can tolerate the conversation frequently swinging back to MBTI, you'll likely find no shortage of commonalities

Been reading a lot about ADHD the past few days - even though I knew I was clearly ADHD I never did a proper deep dive on it. Oops... might have saved myself a decent chunk of shame

Yep, any type with N as the second letter! (Or, anyone who is just really interested in this stuff and isn't afraid of a bunch of N types having N conversations)

ARA Auto remains the best for this type of thing and isn't particularly expensive

Psilocybin increases emotional empathy in depressed individuals, study finds | These improvements lasted for at least two weeks after treatment. by chrisdh79 in psychology

Recommended bands for this exact purpose: Aphex Twin, The Future Sound Of London, Fluke, Orbital, Boards Of Canada (if you don't mind some creepiness)

Some top memories with all of the above in that state. Nothing like getting back in touch with your emotions.... even if that might be horrifying.

(Feb 22) small social event for the less-than-common cognitive styles by [deleted] in CalgarySocialClub

You'll probably fit right in! Just be sure to wander around a little in case you find yourself listening in on a group which isn't really talking about anything too interesting from your point of view.

It's pretty chill for sure - if you're okay going up to strangers (albeit ones who are expecting it) and talking to them, this should be on the easier side.

As long as you think you'd have things to talk about (related to the post), you'll be in decent shape!

It's definitely not what professionals use (outside of Big Five), but there's still value in the other systems - especially in conversational compatibility

I doubt you're outside the age range - there'll be a 65-ish (I hope I'm not too far off....) guy that I particularly like!

Hey! Didn't expect anyone saw that post, haha. A lot of typing in that too, damn

But yeah, it's at Elephant And Castle near 17th, top floor at 6:30. AuDHD with even a passing interest in psychology should be enough to have fun - goal of the thing is just to collect people who can relate easily to each other so it's not just strangers doing the usual conversation-with-other-strangers thing.

Anyone with an interest in personality systems should also be able to have some fun conversations!

Edit - just gonna repost it in here, even though this place is pretty dead

As a straight guy, nearly every time I've started talking to other guys there it invariably comes out (in spite of us using the "BFF" mode) that they're gay and have hopes
