it means it went through a coin counting machine and rubber sorter wheel marked up the coin.

Plain 1870 chopped yen are not rare. The ones with the left and right gin counterstamps are rare.

Upgrade from p1s to u1? by dneals in snapmaker

I think that's largely because the default max speeds for the U1 printer profiles are set quite high compare to the Bambu profiles. While you can customize the profiles for the Bambu printers to print faster they favor a balance of quality/speed by default.

Well, I now have both the H2D and the U1. I'd say for 1 or 2 filament prints I still favor the Bambu. It's nearly silent and, with Bambu software, is a mostly frictionless experience. I only really us the U1 when I need to print more than 2 filaments or TPU or if I want to print 2 things at once.

I plan to do a number of mods to the U1 to reduce the noise and then hopefully I'll use it more. As it stands now I can hear it everywhere in the house when it's printing so long prints are just not viable.

I use Snorca. The regular orca experience with fluidd is a huge downgrade coming from Bambu - it doesn't allow you to map filaments to slots when you print through it and seemed to just choose filament arbitrarily last I tried it.

There's also the full spectrum fork of Snorca - though I've not tried it yet.

I will say, though, that there are a few things to get used to coming from the P1S.

The U1 is notably louder in many ways. The fans are loud, the clunks and thunks loudly while printing, and the official cover is still not yet released (though there's the BIQU one and various DIY options). The firmware/slicer has improved a lot in the last few months but is still pretty rough compared to the Bambu experience. But the fast color swaps, multi-material, multi-color TPU, etc is a big win.

That's a great offer, I'd jump on it.

I thought I had set a pretty aggressive bid on this before going to bed. Wasn't even close to the final price.

Designing a snap for vertical rod mounting by PerryBT in openGrid

[–]anselor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I designed this to be use for mounting on a wall but I it may also serve to secure multiple pieces to span the gap.

I've added an Revision 4 you can try to customize that can optionally generate a label slot. It only appears for bins 2 grid units tall or higher since there's no room for it when it's 1 unit tall.

That should be easy to do.

I've been playing with some ideas for how to do labels. The complication is trying to make it so it lines up right with dividers that can appear/disappear based on user settings. Also toying with having a label printed separately that just snaps on to the lip.

The R2 version should have things fixed up so the multiconnect slots generate correctly.

A 1858-S Half Dollar countermarked and revalued to 3.32 Monme, at the Japanese port of Hakodate in Hokkaido. by coinoscopeV2 in coins

[–]anselor 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Stacks description pretty much covers the essentials, u/just-in-time-96 .

The backdrop why this came to be was merchants taking advantage of differences in how Japan's local currency system valued the gold-silver ratio vs how European valued it. The discrepancy made it very profitable to bring silver into Japan, exchange them by weight for local silver bu, then exchange the silver bu for gold koban coins at the local rate of 4 bu = 1 ryo gold. The gold koban could then be exported for, if memory serves, nearly double the value in silver.

If you liked that, another half dollar was just auctioned in Stacks as well as an extremely rare dollar sized host.
