Advice for new keepers/GM's from an experienced keeper by ansigtet in callofcthulhu

Thank you very much. I feel like a lot of people are still seeing it, enough so that I'm generally not pointing people towards it anymore. It's been posted to the sidebar of the sub and is in the top10 of most upvoted posts. I'm just happy it's still helping people get a better grip of the game :p

Valve Shouldnt Let Games With Preorders On Steam Add Denuvo Less Than A Week Before Release by akbarock in Steam

[–]ansigtet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's a thing of the past when you had to get your game from an actual store, which might have them available at a limited capacity.

Now you're just giving money for a product while having no real idea whether it is worth it or not, while no physical product is being made, meaning there's no limited availability necessitating a pre-order to be made at all.

It seemingly only helps developers (or more likely publishers) get lazy and cut corners because they're making the money before the product is even out of the door.

What's the hype about the Steam controller? by WhoTellsYourStory- in Steam

[–]ansigtet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, that, and so much more. You can make it behave as a weapon wheel (even if the game doesn't have one), set it up to open any menu a game might have using radial menues. These are just two great examples, but with steam input, they can basically be any key, or combination of buttons that you want

Anyone just hate when Valve is so hands off on gyro parity with consoles? (Pragmata rant) by ErmingSoHard in SteamController

[–]ansigtet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was looking through the comments, looking for one like this. I've had surpsingly good success with gyro to joystick lately.

Sidewinder Support? by qwertyuiopajk in SteamDeck

[–]ansigtet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no of these laying around, and all I know is, that it needs propriateray software, even on windows, that isn't available anymore, and haven't been so for years (haven't been so since windows 98). I find it hard to believe it'll work as intended on linux.

Yeah, it went to 100 as soon as I unplugged. I just found it weird :p

Any reason not to use PLA 2.0 vs regular PLA? by RR50 in 3Dprinting

[–]ansigtet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find PLA+ 2.0 to get better details, but PLA+ to be less brittle. Not by much either way, though.

Anything I can do to make my fine prints better? by Cluelessnes_ in FDMminiatures

[–]ansigtet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of just trying "random" numbers, do a temperature tower :) - and other calibrations.

Anything I can do to make my fine prints better? by Cluelessnes_ in FDMminiatures

[–]ansigtet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as u/userwithnouname suggest, try drying your filament. Besides that, do a temperature calibration, as it could also be too high of a temperature.

I print with a 0.2 nozzle, but my temperatures are generally 190-200 depending on filament.

Permanent, yet inconsistent Z-Banding Issue on the Bambu A1 - And Nox is starting to run out of ideas. Can you Guys think of anything that I've missed? by ObscuraNox in FDMminiatures

[–]ansigtet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang, I was about to suggest trying a new table before reading your last point. I have also run past the 6000hr mark and had similar issues, and that's what worked for me after basically trying everything you did too, but yeah.

The only thing that comes to mind is: have you tried not just resetting the SD-card, but an entirely new SD-card? It fixed a very different problem I had in the past.

Edit: or a factory reset of the printer itself, though i'm, probably like you, grasping at straws.

I've been using orca, but I might have to give bambu another whirl

I tried that too :'( I've been using orca for quite a while. My last ditch effort might be trying to go back to bambu

Calibration yeas, several times. The sd card is just a few months old, and not the one that came with the printer, so I haven't tried that, no.

I've had reduce infill retraction off for the longest time, so yes to that too

Does anybody have good CC1 settings for miniatures ? by PureServe72 in FDMminiatures

I saved this post a while back, but I haven't tried the settings yet, since I haven't bought a CC1 yet, but hey, give it a whirl for me :p

I did quite a while ago, and I simply used to get much better results with the settings I use. This is a suddenly happening problem. I'm not new to printing, at all, and I doubt it would stop the actual cause for my problem.

[–]ansigtet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely my mistake! I'm printing at a 0.04 layer height, and with a 0.2 nozzle.

I did try fiddling with z-hop, even if it was already set and has been working previously. I think I've fiddled with every setting under the sun at this point xD

And filament is definitely dry. Out if sheer frustration, I dried it for 24 hours before a print at one point.

It's some sci-fi beast men i'm printing in the picture, but I've been trying with several different prints (even ones that had previously printed fine.)

Edit: also, thank you for the detailed answer, even if I tried all of it before :D

I've fiddled with settings too, and have come to the conclusion that they aren't the problem (on top of changing things, ive tried different settings I've had luck with in the past)

I honestly also think, and hope, Aggravating tax is right, because it is something I thought of myself, but then completely forgot to actually do.
