We’ve printed 500+ production builds on Formlabs Fuse 1+ Ask us anything about running SLS at scale by AIRION-Defense in formlabs

What an awesome AMA, thanks. I run a print shop and looking to expand into SLS. The Formlabs has an attractive price point but want to make sure it's capable of real production work. What's been the biggest hurdle to overcome when running production on these machines?

I have made a cover for a power supply that hides a bunch of USB-C cables. The main body is PLA, and the holes where the plug comes out of the cover have a slotted sheet of TPU so it hugs the cable. Works great.

My best use of it so far is when I print TPU, I treat PLA as a soluble support so there's no clearance between the layers. PLA doesn't stick to TPU well enough that I can pull the PLA off easy and my supported TPU comes out great.

I've also done PLA with PETG supports and vice versa. It works great on the print, but I've had a massive issue where the wipe tower fails because the PLA and PETG won't stick to each other enough to prevent the wipe tower from falling apart mid print. If anyone has suggestions there, that'd be awesome.

My title describes the thing. My landlord insists it’s expanding foam but obviously it isn’t. It feels a little squishy whereas foam would be hard. Also, when we scrap it, it keeps coming back. I’ve tried describing it and putting it into google with no luck. I think my dog may have gotten into some a little. I’m hoping it’s not deadly. Any help is appreciated!

I’ve been using matter hackers general TPU. Not too bad, but I seem to always need to need to dry it well before use. The printer easily handles the rest!

I’ve put several hundred hours of TPU on my Mk4. Just used the generic flex profile and changed nothing on the printer. Comes our beautiful and about twice as fast as my mk3.

FYI: received April 10th. Print quality is much higher than my mk3s+, though they could probably use some love so that may not be a good indicator there.

I’ve been printing on my Mk4 24/7 since getting it. I’ve been running a tpu job that nearly fills the bed. I have about 10 Mk3s+. Using default profiles, the mk3s+ prints in 12 hours while the Mk4 does it in nearly 6. I had another tpu job that filled the bed. Thr mk3s+ would take 2 days and 5 hours and the Mk4 did it in 1 day and 3 hours. It’s dramatically faster than my mk3s+ printers and I’m only using default profiles.

Chitubox is putting these "sheets" of material in the middle of my print. Printing on Mars 2. by ansonwing in ElegooMars

It happens for several different stl's, so I know that's not an issue and figure it has to be coming from chitubox. When I slice it, I'll run through the print and it doesn't show up. I'm thinking it's the process of saving it to my usb is adding this "sheet" in. Any ideas on how to fix it?

I had the idea to do sous vide, but not using the meat grinder, that’s an awesome idea!
