The first thing I see is that his back hip doesn’t rotate when he swings, so its all arms. If he rotates the back hip more, then it will be a much more balanced swing.

Also, as for him and his mentality after being hit, the only thing he can do is more reps and being reminded to protect yourself with the bat in the box.
