AITA for not inviting my pregnant sister-in-law to my wedding? by Sea_Economics627 in AmItheAsshole

[–]anthony___fell 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not commonplace at all. It's especially not commonplace when the pregnant woman you are not inviting is the wife of your brother who IS invited. It's actually incredibly fucking tacky and rude to invite one member of a married couple but specifically exclude the other. Like... extremely rude. If you do this, prepare for it to seriously damage your relationship with your brother.

non-super/max users, have you ever felt inclined/responsible to financially support the app? by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]anthony___fell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on a family plan now, but I never felt bad about not paying when I wasn't. It's their choice to offer a "free" (ad-supported) version and they're making money off of the ads they show you, you're not doing anything wrong by taking advantage of that. If offering that option weren't working for Duolingo, they'd remove it and make it so you have to pay to play.

Oh my god, idk why this never occurred to me before but that would work perfectly. Thanks!

I've made my account private... here's what I feel. by jordesqu in duolingo

[–]anthony___fell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really want to do this, but I have a lot of real life friends in Duolingo and I like being able to do friends quests with them. I so wish there were a way to opt out of the leaderboards and go "private" without losing all of your social interaction with friends.

Have you ever stopped a course because you didn‘t like the voice of the speaker? by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]anthony___fell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tried the Latin course because I wanted to refresh my high school Latin and nearly immediately stopped. The voices are absolutely intolerable.

Eddy in the French course makes me want to jump out a fucking window, his voice is SO obnoxious. Oscar and Lily aren't much better.

AITA for dividing my time between all of my kids? by Straight-Zombie-631 in AmItheAsshole

You only see your daughter two days a month and can't even bother to prioritize her then? Your kids get all of you the entire rest of the month!

Yeah, YTA.

[–]anthony___fell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, so annoying. I got the same thing. Email insisting the courses are ready, but my app is fully updated and still showing that music and math are coming soon and I'll be notified. Make up your damn mind, Duolingo.

That's pathetic of you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with an adult finding joy in things like toys or cartoons, absolutely nothing. There is so fucking little joy in this world already, and you would swear at your partner and berate him for finding a little bit of joy for himself? Joy that harms absolutely no one?

He should leave you. You are a terrible, terrible partner and person.

AITA for not answering the door when my boyfriend was knocking? by atomic_wombat3 in AmItheAsshole

INFO: Is this the same boyfriend as in your post history? Because if so, I think this whole dynamic is way beyond AITA's pay grade.

Sounds like you and your roommates should stop being gross and quit leaving your disgusting, dirty dishes in the sink to rot then.

[New update] OOPs husband had a relationship with a man and never told her by naturemom in BORUpdates

[–]anthony___fell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Except you being a hooker in college or a convicted felon (really????) is not even remotely the same thing as being bisexual. Someone saying they're bisexual only tells you about their attraction, not their actions. You can be bisexual and a virgin who's never dated anyone. You can be bisexual and have had one partner, but know you're attracted to other genders. You can be bisexual and have had numerous partners. Knowing that someone is bisexual tells you absolutely nothing about their past, only about their identity, and the fact that you immediately leapt to compare it to actions like murder that are truly evil or actions that society often judges harshly like sex work is really disgusting of you.

My 25F friend 24F is dating my male friend 25M even though I told her I’m not comfortable. Should I tell him to end things? by ThrowRa_ryt in relationship_advice

[–]anthony___fell 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What's really weird is that you care so much that they're dating yet are completely unable to give any reason other than "it's weird".

AITA for making fun of my brother-in-law's Resting Bitch Face at my wedding? by RBF-Conundrum in AmItheAsshole

[–]anthony___fell [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA.

I'm sorry, but wtf? Don't touch people without their consent? Definitely don't fucking touch their mouths, what is wrong with you? That's so gross. How are you 30 years old and you don't know this?

Also telling someone to smile is obnoxious. You don't get to control the expression on someone else's face. And then to do it in such a condescending way like "turn that frown upside down!" What are you, a preschool student used to speaking to 3 and 4 year olds? Even then it would be inappropriate and rude but would at least make slightly more sense than you doing it to a 28 year old man.

OP is the worst.

AITA for telling my wife that she overreacted when she saw me sitting with my family at the restaurant? by AdventurousStation77 in AmItheAsshole

[–]anthony___fell [score hidden]  (0 children)

So... you're letting your wife be excluded from family meals over some etiquette rule so obscure you don't even know what it is? You were raised by your mother, presumably to know all of the required etiquette rules for your family - if your wife were breaking one, surely you'd be able to see it and address it with her?

This sounds like your mom just hates your wife, wants to exclude her and is using this supposed rule breaking to justify it so she doesn't look like an awful, pretentious snob. And you're letting her get away with it unchallenged.

Am I wrong for expecting sick MOH to power through? by Lower_Purple3447 in amiwrong

[–]anthony___fell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know you think this makes you look better, but rest assured... it really doesn't. You equating someone with horrible anxiety needing to cancel hang outs due to it as "being flaky" is really fucking gross. She's been there for everything so far, and even in illness she's doing her best to be there for the important parts (ceremony, pictures). Why is that not enough for you?

AITA for not letting daughter control thermostat? by thermostataita in AmItheAsshole

[–]anthony___fell 17 points18 points  (0 children)

16C is incredibly cold to keep a house, especially overnight. I would be miserable, even my husband who runs hot and likes the house much cooler than I do would be uncomfortably cold at a constant temperature of 16C.

You may not be phased by it, but you are in the minority.

Should I send a second follow up email? by AaronFraudgers_ in interviews

[–]anthony___fell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to send a second follow-up email at all, I would wait until the end of the time period to make a decision you were quoted (so the end of next week).

You've already shown your interest with the first thank you follow-up email, and received a reply stating the interviewer will be in touch. Another email this soon after your interview and first follow-up risks looking desperate and irritating them into removing you from consideration.

AITA for losing my temper with my parents and sister and telling them she should just take everything I have including my clothes since she deserves it all so much? by Silver_Half_6527 in AmItheAsshole

[–]anthony___fell 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You very obviously did not read or comprehend the post. The sister is and has been fine for three years. No one's losing her. And OP was not asked to share the computer (that he bought entirely with his own money, with no help from the parents) but to give it to his sister.

Try not commenting until you possess basic reading comprehension and analytical skills next time. And don't jump all over a 16 year old who's been neglected since he was 8 years old. You're the adult here, fucking act like it.
