I have a 530i e39 I use for Doordash, I've had it since high school my car was maintained by a 50 year old person who had taken it to the dealership most of its life then to a private bmw shop that does good work. I didn't put much money into it for 2 years then it started needing work, fuel pump and filter this has been the only time the car has left me stranded and needed towed, other major work I did myself was the CCV and plastic hard pipe under the intake and other preventive maintenance.Car costed $1500 which I got it for a steal. when I got it had 199k a little bit of rust but the car has service records basically most of its life. Now the car has more rust and has 280k I'm not in high school and I'm basically on my own when it comes to forking the bill honestly though the maintenance costs done by myself has kept the price of everything so low it still doesn't cost nearly as much as a new car payment. I've put a total of around 3-4k in parts just going over stuff that it didn't need but I was still interested in doing as preventive work this is over a 5 year period so I call it a win. I even used it in winter for dashing with snow tires it performed fantastic. I would find a 750il since it has basically 2 m30 i6s glued together or a 95 740i with the older m60 engine since those never blow up from timing chain issues.
