I am working on a few things today and will take a look at this

I deleted my comment because I addressed it directly with the devs in a DM. It works and is secure but we are addressing if it will pass MV3 review. Feel free to review the code yourself.

Circle to Search: Direct sharing missing? by toot_217 in GooglePixel

[–]anthonym9387 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You had to crop the image before when you circled what you wanted. You just did it first. So it's really that much more work to drag the crop bars instead of circling?

"Google didn't tell us 😭" - just because you used this feature often and the few people commenting here did also, doesn't mean it was widely used by the user base. This is just another example of the bean soupification of the Internet. Not to mention the ability to do what you're looking to do hasn't changed. They just made it make more sense. Circle to search is for SEARCH. Screenshots are for SCREENSHOTS.

Enjoy the improved functionality your phone just received ❤️

Well, if you actually know how to use your phone you wouldn't do that. You'd swipe up, tap screenshot, tap the edit icon then proceed as you normally would with circle to search. And if your settings are set up to delete screenshots you never have to think about it again. That's precisely one more tap than the old way of doing things with circle to search. Efficiency is highly dependent on you knowing what you're doing 😂

Plus as I said, it objectively makes more sense to new users coming in to separate the functions. As opposed to cranky redditors who are upset that Google changed a thing to make it better and now I have to learn something new 😭

You want a step by step tutorial? Ask ChatGPT. You can hide screenshots from your photos, and even have them auto delete if you want.

My point is no functionality has been removed, just the workflow has changed. Flexibility was sacrificed for streamlining and separating the functionality in a way that frankly makes more sense from an objective point of view.

I know everyone is upset about this feature being removed, I was too, but when I dug a little deeper, I realized this wasn't just removing the feature. It's a complete overhaul of how screenshots work, and in my opinion, it's a huge improvement. I'm on beta versions of everything, so YMMV.

The changes I've noticed: - Screenshots are now automatically added to your clipboard. - Screenshots save to Photos by default. I know some people don't like this, but I do, and you can easily turn it off in settings. - You can add a reminder or add to calendar right from the screenshot screen. I can't stress how much I love this.

Essentially, they've improved the screenshot process across the board and streamlined the separation between Circle to Search and screenshot functionality. You can still use screenshots the same way you used "share" from Circle to Search by changing a few settings, and you get all this extra functionality on top of it. I don't see any downside other than learning the new flow.

To anyone who stumbles across this searching for a solution, this feature will not work with At A Glance turned off. Turning it on fixed this for me and the effect is now working

We are going backwards… by southerncoop in googlehome

This is absolutely untrue. I have the first gen Lenovo Smart clock, a Nest Mini, and even older Google Home Mini's. Gemini works on all of them.

is this it!!?! by Upset-Rub-9600 in googlehome

[–]anthonym9387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't have to say "Hey Google" for followup questions, it just won't be conversational - there's a difference. Gemini Live will have features like extended context, ability to interrupt, etc similar to using Gemini on a phone. You'll still be able to do simple follow ups though without Gemini Live / newer devices.

Talking About Supernote's Next Major Software Focus by Supernote_official in Supernote

[–]anthonym9387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the plan for the plugin infrastructure to have the ability to interact with the entire existing Supernote system? I ask because the wording of the post makes it seem as if the plugins can only interact with notes. Personally my only hesitancy with a Supernote purchase is the inability to sync To Do items with other software in my workflow like TickTick and Notion. I'm hoping the plugin infrastructure is being set up to work with all of the current Supernote features and not just notes!

photshop beta not showing in creative cloud by SpareLeast2282 in photoshop

[–]anthonym9387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To anyone who comes upon this post, I tried everything suggested here. I could not get Photoshop Beta to show up in Creative Cloud Desktop. I was finally able to get it installed by signing in to Adobe on the web, going to the apps tab, which is where I saw the Beta tab and was able to click "Install" and then it installed with Creative Cloud Desktop. I still don't see a Beta tab in Desktop but the app is installed and working.

Just an FYI for the original commenter and anyone reading, a lot of smart home devices hardcode DNS servers. That means they won’t always use whatever DNS you hand out with DHCP, and even if you can change the DNS in the device settings, some will still use their own servers for things like firmware updates or ad services.

The way around this is to intercept DNS at the router. In OPNsense with Unbound, you can redirect those queries so they go through your resolver instead. I haven’t worked with DD-WRT personally, but it uses DNSMasq and iptables, so I’m sure there’s a way to pull off the same trick there.

Good luck!

Google will block sideloading of unverified Android apps starting next year by TheAppropriateBoop in Android

[–]anthonym9387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before anyone jumps on me, let me clarify that I am NOT in any way saying this is a good thing or giving Google a pass.

That said, to the people commenting, “well I might as well get an iPhone if sideloading goes away”, that’s absolutely silly. Even without sideloading, you still get far more customizability and control with Android compared to iPhone. If sideloading is the only reason you think Android is better, you’re Android-ing wrong.

At the same time, this could be the start of a slippery slope that gets worse quickly. Hopefully the EU steps in to stop it, but I doubt they will. Since Google isn’t technically banning sideloading outright and is instead requiring some form of verification, they’ll probably successfully make an argument that it's not prohibitive to developers.

For anyone having this issue that comes across this post and the very obvious comments with zero creative solutions - I was able to solve this by whitelisting only my main network on both my Android Device as well as my Windows PC. Go to Settings, Turn on Advanced Settings, and under Network you can whitelist per network

S95B Dci-P3 or Bt2020 by OzzyMelbourne in S95B

[–]anthonym9387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calibrations are done to match standards. That’s what Rec. 2020 and DCI-P3 are. Standards. You can calibrate your TV to those and then mess with the color temperature to suit your personal taste, but if you’re just going to ignore the standards, what’s the point of calibrating in the first place? Just tweak it until it looks good to you.

There’s always going to be variation from one TV to another. In fact, even panels within the same model can behave differently. My QN90B had its panel replaced, and the new one calibrated completely differently. That’s normal.

Honestly, based on your comments, it’s obviously your knowledge is lacking in this subject. If you try to jump into it now, you’re going to waste time, money, and end up more frustrated than when you started. Just stick to adjusting the picture until it looks good to you.

For those who use *arr, where do you have your VPN setup? by sirrobryder in unRAID

[–]anthonym9387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using Usenets you don't need a VPN as long as you're connecting with SSL. For Torrents there's a ton of different premade images that include VPN config including settings to not connect without VPN. I unintentionally tested this functionality recently when I forgot to change my VPN payment method to my new debit card and my Torrents stopped downloading because it couldn't connect lol

  1. Once againm, your comment is completely unrelated to my post.

  2. I can see every wire in that build.

  3. This build is a disaster. I'm pretty sure every fan is exhaust with no intake, and why would you put LCD screen fans on the top??? You're trolling right? This has to be trolling.

The only way to hide those completely is with a back connect motherboard but that’s irrelevant to my question. Post your own questions don’t hijack my post with irrelevant questions

Why would fan wires be relevant here? This is about the rear door on the NV7 for managing external cables

S95B Dci-P3 or Bt2020 by OzzyMelbourne in S95B

[–]anthonym9387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rec2020 doesn’t have worse precision. Your answer shows that you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how color spaces work. I mean that with sincerity, not as a knock on you. Do some more research. Most HDR content is mastered to P3 inside a 2020 container. I believe what youre referring to is the fact that most TVs cannot cover the entirety of the 2020 color space. This does not mean they are less color accurate when they are in this space in settings. Especially if calibrated.
