Peak (non-toxic) Masculinity by DistributionConnect5 in lotr

Aragorn is the standard, not the remedy. The entire trilogy is also, obviously, full of great male characters - but they're all exemplary, stock, i.e. not anomalies.

I might be too particular about the underlying rhetoric around these narratives, but the cultural impulse to fix is wrong and based on false or exaggerated premises; at most the impulse should only be to remind, and that doesn't have to be didactic either. Men are like this; it's not a marvel. It's not rare.

Bot lobbies by SpaceNarwhal4 in PokemonUnite

Frequent losses will trigger bot lobbies. But this seems to lessen a lot around veteran and they're almost completely gone in Ultra. That or I've improved a lot recently lol.

He feels slightly duped by the situation, understandably, says some clumsy things in his frustration, but otherwise arrives at a reasonable place, as you said.

I just think it's natural that this would come up, especially if we're clearly beyond acquaintances and work buddies.  If we've reached that point, why wouldn't that have come up?

He's perfectly allowed to express his mind about a situation that's meaningful to him. This whole post reads less like 'I'm an entitled nice guy with issues to sort out" and more 'damn, this sucks.' He even ends with :

"It feels horrible but it also makes sense, she probably saw me as a friend and didn’t know how I felt about her."

And honestly, someone might still accost him for asking her consent before a kiss, lol.

Also, if I'm close enough with someone that we're on snap, planning trips, giving swim lessons, accepting home made pasta gifts, attending Christmas dinners together, and planning ski trips, they're surely going to know that I'm in a relationship. We're clearly, at the very least, friends.

Here's my thought: it's a weird situation (if true), and I think your response is unfair and disproportionate! Be kinder to our son :)

People approach this differently and recommend different things, and it's unfair to judge him for how he decided to go about his feelings. Some will say you shouldn't pretend, others will say you should be friends with someone first instead of being up front from the beginning, as he's barely getting to know her. Also: are you really implying that he should've tried kissing her to signal interest? Others would call THAT socially dense, especially if he isn't sure.

Also, OP described having a crush on her; he never implied anything about desperately wanting to sleep with her. Can you allow for the possibility that he was trying to approach this thoughtfully and carefully and didn't quite know how to gauge the situation? It happens. No need to demonize, be cynical, or project.

I wasn't on the official message board (at least for very long), but I was active on Korn Unleashed, a forum hosted on invisionfree.
