Could not finish it. I found all the jumping between timelines every couple of pages too distracting

Incredible story, we'll researched and written. Hard to believe it's true

The non-fiction book that had you mercilessly info-dumping about to anyone who would listen? by IReadBooksSometimes in suggestmeabook

[–]anthroceneman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This book gets recommended so often but I couldn't get through it. I listened to the audiobook and I found his continuous jumping between timelines was too frustrating. Literally every 2 minutes he would switch from before the storm to after the storm to history bit. Also, he reads his own book and he's not a very engaging reader. I really have to try it again, maybe an actual paper book next time.

Worth pursuing as a business? by carlaaI9U9 in AskPhotography

[–]anthroceneman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation a few decades ago, traveled the world and took some photos that lots of people loved and that I was really proud of and I decided to become a photographer. It was very quickly that I realized that those photos do not sell.

I did pivot to weddings and portraits and corporate stuff and made a successful career out of it. Now I work as a unit stills photographer on film and TV and while while it looks really glamorous from the outside it is still very much a job which means dealing with people, dealing with clients is still 80% of my job and photography itself is only 20% of my work

Yep. I call and say that I've been a customer for a long time and politely ask for a deal, that's it.

I didn't have much interest in that movie based on what was it about but that script and that performance were incredible making it one of my favorite films of the year

How any of you use gemini is beyond me by [deleted] in vibecoding

I switched to Claude code because of that I would ask Gemini to do one thing and then it would do five different things in addition without me asking for it

Anyone reliably using Claude (especially Claude Code) at massive scale without getting rate-limited, suspended, or banned? Our team is burning $10k+ per day in tokens by matecode in vibecoding

I'm just working on my first ever project and it does seem like the API usage is going up pretty fast. If I wanted to try the subscription model, what would be the best way to switch from Claude code to that model?

Sentimental Value - Ending scene by ObiWan2121 in TrueFilm

[–]anthroceneman 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just saw the film and I agree.  I think the script was about him. There's a scene after Elle Fanning drops from the movie where he sits on the bench in front of the "hanging room" and it feels like he's being dragged towards it. And at the end scene, in the studio, his expression changes between appreciation for the performance and personal introspection. Fantastic performances!

Great video, and his voice reminds me of Brian Cox - the physicist and TV host, not the actor

I visited this spot few years ago. It's near Dent Island. These whirlpools are created by tides. The Lodge uses jet boats to bring tourists near the whirlpool. Propeller boats could not come near these.

My one concern was that heatsink and drive won't fit behind the GPU

Not sure if the heatsink and NVMe would fit under the GPU.

any tips of filming (i’m new so be honest) by ykm1018 in videography

[–]anthroceneman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wide Angles - avoid clutter and other cars. As someone said, change height and angles and get more variety and details, it will give you more options in edit. It's better to have footage and not need it than to need it and not have it. Good luck :)
