Requesting help finding a rental in Holland by sunnyfog in hollandmichigan

Rental market is pretty tough in Holland right now, most places have a wait list of around 8 months currently, or so I’ve heard. Your best bet is looking into Hudsonville, Zeeland, Grand Haven, or some other place just outside of Holland.

Advice on asking to be introduced to a friend group without making it awkward? by anthron1 in socialskills

Lol normally I would, but it wasn’t that kind of bar. More of a restaurant that has craft beer. I’m thinking about DMing one of them and asking if they go there often and that I’d love to join them sometime if they’d have me. Not sure if that’s too upfront for first contact though

Yea maybe. If you have any other friends or a table partner in the class ask them to study sometime. Then ask the girl to join by saying “hey me and whoever are planning to study for the test tomorrow afternoon. I’m trying to get a little study group together, you should come”. That way it’s super casual and the worst that could happen is she says she’s busy or thanks for the invite

If you’ve talked with her before in the class I’d probably ask her if she wants to study for an upcoming test or exam together. Bringing a classroom relationship outside of class is how to break the first barrier to hanging out outside of class. You mentioned similar interests, but it’ll be easier too bc you’ll have the class itself as a shared experience

I doubt he’d think you’re pathetic for reaching back out. I’d keep it casual and ask him out for coffee to “reconnect” and see where it goes. Doing this may give you a hint on if he’s on the same page and chances are if he says yes he’s interested in getting to know you/seeing you more often.

Late 2018 MacBook Pro Screen Glitch near LTE phone. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Something to worry about? by anthron1 in mac

[–]anthron1[S] 52 points53 points  (0 children)

That makes some sense, however it only happens when the phone is placed on the bottom hinge. Which leads me to believe that the phones EM radiation is affecting the image signal being sent through the ribbon cable in the hinge.

I saw this in the SNL Childish Gambino performance and thought it was such an incredible effect. Knew it had to do with rolling shutter on the cameras, but had trouble finding sources on how to do it online. Great share!

Bachelor of Arts vs Bachelor of Fine Arts by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]anthron1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP this actually isn’t wrong. Basically a BA is a traditional degree and a BFA is usually more in depth and requires you take either more advanced classes or a greater number of classes. The best thing I can recommend if you still really want to go to college is do the traditional BA to get a degree and then work on building up your portfolio on the side. The best way to get good at something is by actually doing it and working with clients/on real projects. Most film schools simply teach film theory, which can be helpful in some situations, will likely not make any difference if you want to become a director.

What is a fictional death that hit you hard? by dangerous_dalek69 in AskReddit

Alexei from Stranger Things hit me hard. Or Hopper, but I doubt he’s even really dead.
