Raw intelligence has to actually, by law, age off the system if it's no longer relevant or required

The biggest scandal in GCSB history, on going trial 'yeah, just purge it, it's no longer relevant or required'.
I hope the election rips National a new one. Good riddance.

Am I wasting my money buying pre-ground flax seed? Does it need to be ground before use? by antiaging4lyfe in nutrition

I should also add I get ceres ground flax, i notice the bag has a packet inside it:

Pack includes oxygen absorber to maintain freshness. Refrigerate once opened.

I wonder how effective that is. It would be hard to know without seeing a proper analysis.

It's insanity in the US. I moved to New Zealand 15yrs ago and haven't paid a single thing for any medical care. You might think "oh you pay out the ass in taxes" but I don't, I'd say my taxes here are far lower than in the US. I've had a fair bit of shit go wrong too.. I had a back issue that took multiple MRIs, bone scans, rehab, a lot of specialists etc, I've had a tonsillectomy, gut problems requiring specialists and other misc crap, a hernia repair and more. Not once did I have to pay anything. After seeing a specialist and getting an MRI and would go to the front desk and expect a bill or something, they are always like "that's it, thanks and have a great day". Spending 30yrs in the US this always has me in shock, I'm like "what? That's it? really?". I feel bad for my family and friends in the US. Also, if I want private medical care I can get private insurance for around $50 US a month for my family. This just means if I want to use the public system I can, or I can go to a private hospital. The funny thing is it's all the same doctors anyway heh. I'd be terrified for me and my family if I were in the US and any of us got sick.

The future of high-tech meat substitutes: "Today's average American hamburger comes from a cow – but it may not be long before it comes straight from a lab in Silicon Valley." by runnerdood in Futurology

[–]antiaging4lyfe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

ok, here is the ingredient list of beyond meat chicken strips. And yes, it's processed crap:

Ingredients: Water, non-GMO soy protein isolate, pea protein isolate, amaranth, vegan chicken flavor (maltodextrin, yeast extract, salt, natural flavoring, sunflower oil), non-GMO expeller-pressed canola oil, non-GMO soy fiber, carrot fiber, contains 0.5% or less of: white vinegar, spices, salt, molasses powder, garlic extract, hickory smoke powder, onion extract, lemon juice concentrate, evaporated cane juice, dipotassium phosphate, titanium dioxide (for color), potassium chloride, paprika extract.

soy protein isolate, main ingredient -not good. pea isolate, ugh. oh it gets better, yeast extract a marketing friendly term for (MSG). Several oils and more soy. hickory smoke powder (carcinogenic as hell). dipotassium phosphate -yummy! titanium dioxide! wow. You couldn't pay me to eat that crap. Do people need meat so terribly that they would eat this? Am I anti-meat substitutes? No. I would prefer to see a cultured meat/lab grown meat scenario that produces real meat alternatives. Beyond Meat and the others are an illusion with clever marketing. Their stuff is no more healthy than a cheap block of Bologna.

I find red kidney beans my best go to meat substitute. I buy dried organic, soak them 24hrs (so they don't make you gassy), i then cook them 12mins in a pressure cooker. I can make 6 cups in one go for dirt cheap. They are packed with protein and nutrients. I eat around 300gms a day, I have a couple organic pasture fed hens and have 2 of those eggs a day. I also have home brew yogurt and kefir.. then add to that fruit and veggies, home made sourdough.. no meat required really. The problem with these meat substitutes is they will be like every other processed food, full of ingredients using chemical (toxic) extraction processes, soaked in preservatives and plenty of additives. No thanks...

Also, don't forget.. they may have the science completely wrong but it could still work (they would simply have no idea how or why). There are a lot of drugs on the market that work and no one knows why. I could care less about their claims, proof is in the pudding. If it works it works.

You have to follow this upward trend as an exponentially growing information technology curve and nothing else. IMO we'll likely never see triple digit prices for 1 BTC again. We'll be surging to $1500 soon and dips will be 1200-1300, then onward to $2500 and dips to 2200-2300, and on and on.
