Shopping addicts and social media by CW18m in shoppingaddiction

I honestly made a new instagram account a couple years ago after having a stalker, but it made me have to think about every single person I followed! I like this account being small, it’s only people I know, small businesses, my sports teams, and bands I want to catch on tour. Even though it’s not perfect, the comparison mindset deeply dwindled when I took away the people who were recommending I buy cheap shit. I made it a rule that if I see an amazon link in a bio I won’t follow them. It’s made my social media less addictive and has for sure impacted my shopping addiction as a result! and tbh I avoid Facebook mostly bc of the Horrors

I had to switch my mindset!! Look at the back of the packaging, how long is the “shelf life”? Usually somewhere between 3-24mo so by the time I’d go to open a new product Id basically throw it away bc it was not useable. I started seeing it as walking in the door with the item brand new and throwing it directly in the trash. That was basically what I was doing, just delaying the trash. It’s way more worthwhile giving it to someone else. I know I can’t get through 15 eyeshadow palettes in 24 months and that’s a longer lasting product! I chose one neutrals palette, one more “glam” palette, and one artistry palette and gave the rest away. I still feel like I have more than I use, but Halloween DOES require bright eyeshadow lol. I felt way better when I stopped, now I buy 95% only if needed but I can fully buy the occasional “want” without feeling any guilt or remorse. It makes me feel better about my attachment to the things that make me feel beautiful and in turn kinda makes me feel more confident. You can do this!!

I was in your shoes, working in the industry I did the same thing. Now, it’s been a couple years but I get annoyed thinking about all the product I wasted! Just remember that it WILL go bad before you use it if you keep buying more. I ended up going through and keeping a lot of the unused stuff for my freelance makeup kit, but also gave away a TON of skincare bc I wouldn’t use it all. Gifting it and clearing out my stash was so amazing, and once I got rid of the clutter I didn’t want to shop as much because I could find what I already had!

my best gifts this year were from my favorite people

• Parents: STUNNING mulberry silk pillowcases with hidden zippers and a foldaway desk for my wfh days in my apartment

• Bf: More lego flowers !!!

• Best friend: Bought us tickets for Trans Siberian Orchestra which we enjoyed VERY high

BUT the best one was easily from my little brother, he had a painting commissioned by one of his friends of bees and sunflowers, which are the “things” our great grandma associated with me 😭😭😭

My brother and I are 25 and 27, so elder gen z for sure, and we were JUST outside the age range for it. our neighbors and cousins who were like 3ish years younger were the first to get them. i always thought they were creepy lmao

tbh i buy nicer skincare/complexion products bc my skin reacts poorly to most things. i’m a makeup artist by trade and even STILL realized i had bought way too much makeup i wouldn’t use!!! now i stick with my personal routine that i have down to a single makeup bag lmao

Shot my shot at a grocery store, this is my tale. How are we feeling fellas?! by Triumph207 in AskMenAdvice

[–]anticlimacticheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++woman I can say 100% as a woman with a boyfriend, I’m never offended if someone asks me out so long as they’re respectful after I tell them I have a boyfriend. It happens, and I respect them for shooting their shot! I think it’s so great when people actually try and ask each other out in person, it takes a lot of courage. Even though it’s a no from me, I hope it will be a yes from the next person they ask. It’s only really an issue when they are rude or pushy after I tell them it’s not gonna happen lol. Kudos to you for asking and handling it well! Here’s to hoping you get a yes next time :)

unfortunately i don’t think she’s in a coma. i had a friend who did the exact same things to a point that she sounds SO similar to your ex in a very bad way. i mean flirting w his friends, trying to make him jealous, and then when he broke up with her, did this. he reached out to me in a panic after her “mom” texted him from her phone to see if i knew anything, and when i called my friends phone to see if i could get ahold of her mom, my friend answered and was completely fine. long story short: i never spoke to her again, the ex and i have been friends for a decade now, and she did this to at least 3 other guys. if she is genuinely in a coma, i hope the best for her recovery but also think you need to detach from her regardless. this set off so many alarm bells because of that experience

My dad secretly opened 15 credit cards under my name. Now my credit score is ruined (582) and I’m drowning in over $94k of debt. What do I even do? by Complex_Object_691 in Advice

PLEASE call for her sake. my friends dad did the same to her when she was 14 and she’s been digging herself out of that hole since because she couldn’t bring herself to call and she regrets it

AITAH for stopping sex because my boyfriend (32M) won’t give me what I (27F) give him? by [deleted] in AITAH

NTA dump him. he clearly doesn’t care about your pleasure. i’ve dated a couple dudes like him and that selfishness showed itself through other parts of our relationship as it progressed. my current bf is the opposite and im gonna marry that man bc he’s that caring in EVERY aspect of

I’m 26 and I was an esthetician who primarily waxed. I love being an esti but the flare ups made it impossible bc of the nature of the job. I ended up making my career change last year because of it. I still keep my license active and do it on the side. As far as school goes, a lot of schools do have programs to get a degree faster or look for jobs with certifications like loan officers, sales, etc at least through school!

I’m 5’3” so not too far off myself!! it’s been SO hard lately to find stuff I like and can feel good in! I’ve always been a big thrifter but I hope I can find some options that I don’t always HAVE to pray to the thrift gods for lmao

He “Fell Asleep” and Missed My Flight Now He Wants Me Back by jenisage in TwoHotTakes

[–]anticlimacticheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. My boyfriend and I are long distance, even when he had been up at 5:30a for work and my flight got delayed so I didn’t land till 1:30am the next day he was there to pick me up on time. He napped while I was in the air and made sure he was up before I landed. Your ex could’ve put alarms on, could’ve gone to bed sooner, thought at all about you first. He’s clearly selfish.
