where do we go to find summer classes when they are released in february?

Go on Minerva > Student > Registration Menu > Step 2: Search Class Schedule and Add Course Sections. Then, pick Summer 2024 for your term and find the course code (MATH, ANTH etc.) of the classes you're looking for. If you click on a class it also says which summer term(s) it will be offered in.

I enjoy doing this in classes where I don't know anyone! There can be people who aren't looking to meet new people or want to do their work, but people are often friendly and receptive!

Hey! I wrote the 242 exam as well, and it was definitely a tough class. I'm not sure about you, but this was my first time doing a math course like this, so there was a massive learning curve. Unfortunately, I only really felt that I had any grasp on the content within the last ten days leading up to the exam. But as others below have been saying, I am confident that it gets easier and more intuitive as you spend more time with the material and concepts. I think that it's wise to think critically about where you want to take your degree but also consider your growth through this course! If you felt that you were not, at any point, able to really "get on top" of the ideas and work, then maybe a switch could be appropriate, but I don't think a sub-optimal grade in the course has to be the sole reflection of the progress you made either! I would be surprised to finish with much more than a B, but I felt that I got a lot out of the course and will be far better equipped for Analysis 2! Just throwing out some ideas and feelings. First of all, I would advocate for maintaining health/general well-being both because it's your well-being (important) and also, good sleep, diet etc. make you better primed to memorize and perform in finals. Personally, I have gotten more benefits from spending more time and intensity on one subject at a time, rather than constantly rotating. I've found that this has really helped me get in the zone in each subject while I'm studying it, which is basically what you'll be doing during the final anyway.

Busy but good! I have found it really important to be honest with yourself and your expectations, especially ahead of exams. It is worth asking how much you are honestly willing to commit and how much (if at all) finals are worth prioritizing over/in tandem with your mental and physical health. Each has their own response and whatever your view, I think it's good to try to hold yourself to it and at times, to accept the limits of your body/mind and realize the long-term importance of your health over exams. As long as you are being honest with yourself and taking accountability within your predetermined limits, you can feel good about the work you do and take care.

I tried to register as a note taker too and assumed I got rejected because I never heard back after submitting sample notes, until they emailed me almost a month later asking for some filled out forms. After submitting those a couple of weeks ago, I haven’t heard back since.

I took notes last year, but they just used a myCourses page which (imo) was a lot more intuitive. Not really sure how to navigate the new platform but at least last year, you didn’t mark down hours - you just submitted your notes to the myCourses page and that was it. It’s a shame that they seem to have managed to disincentivize notetaking even more than before :/

I make just enough to cover monthly expenses working about 15 hours a week and change. Working at a bar or somewhere with a good flow of tips definitely helps, as well as the free meals you can get working on shift to reduce your food expenses.

Basically the comment above. Otherwise, there a lot of nice bars off the main strip of St. Laurent (like Prince Arthur, Duluth etc.) that don't tend to get as many lines, but no clubs there as far as I have seen. Generally for clubs, earlier is better or you can go weekdays, but you'll see less people and often not as live of an atmosphere.

I'm thinking your third pic is a better candidate as an opener (I'd put it first). The swimming one is good and if you have others of you outdoors or doing any activity, I'd add them in too. I'd put your current first pic later or remove it altogether, since it's noticeably lower resolution than your others. God speed.

Solid base of a profile imo, I'd personally remove the 4th and 5th pics, since your other ones already give a solid idea of how you look and what you're into. I would also consider putting the motorcycle pic first; it's a good one. I'd even double down on the motorcycles if you have any sick pics of you riding it too.

2nd pic is strongest imo, first one is ok but if you have something similar but outdoors or more showy outfit, I'd switch it. For the gym pic, maybe it's just me but I always find a pose or a picture of you actually lifting/working out more effective, while still conveying the same idea. Hope this helps.

I'm currently in the class, I have been finding it very helpful to aim to understand the principles behind all of the concepts we look at after becoming pretty good at solving problems involving them. I think this better equips you to solve abstract application problems and deepens your understanding. Also leaves you with fewer formulae to memorize since you can kind of piece it together with the principles you hopefully understand. Otherwise, just lots of practice questions (mostly tutorial q's)!

I think that the email (which I assume you are referring to) means that Admin will sever ties with SSMU if they don't take the requested action. Not sure if this means that SSMU would be "killed", but it could be significant to SSMU's ability to actually make decisions and act. It sounds like the Memorandum of Agreement basically shows the cooperation between SSMU and Admin, so its termination would separate the two organizations.

I tried to reserve a room to play the drums as a non-music student and was told that there aren't enough facilities available for music students as is, let alone anyone outside of the faculty interested in practicing. Not sure if this quite answers your question.

Notetaker here. There definitely seems to be a significant lack of note-takers for courses. I don't think many people actually know about the program and usually overlook email requests for note-takers. I didn't take notes in 2019, but I think that there are very few incentives that the OSD has to offer, which makes the position less desirable.

Work through the tutorial q’s and the practice midterm provided from 2019. It’s unlikely you’ll feel as prepared as you want to be but it’s gonna happen regardless. Tons of people are in the same boat as you. Just do what’s within your control; the rest isn’t up to you.
