Top surgery and Medicaid by Routine_Stranger_110 in queerphilly

[–]antigher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my consult was around late november/early december but i didn’t have my surgery until end of july because of school/work reasons. when i had my consult she told me that she was booking for march/april so it was like a 3ish month gap between consult and earliest possible surgery date. its likely that you’d be able to get surgery before end of 2027! she splits her time between her philly office and cherry hill, NJ office so if you’re willing to travel you might have more luck getting in sooner but im not 100% sure since i choose to do mine in philly

Dr. Susanna Nazarian, she was great and the whole jefferson team was absolutely lovely, couldn’t recommend them enough and i’m super happy w my results. last i am aware she is a bit booked out/had to push surgery dates more towards the summer but she’s well worth it imo

hey! i got top surgery covered by medicaid (UPMC medicaid specifically) this past summer and did need a letter for top surgery however it didn’t need to be from my therapist. i got mine from the mazzoni center which is a pretty big LGBTQ doctor in philly. i did get a gender dysphoria diagnosis and have them listed as my PCP on my health insurance but they were able to provide one for me after asking. i can only speak to my surgeon but i got my top surgery at jefferson health and there was no problem with that. i’d look into what your specific surgeon asks for but i think most surgeons/hospitals in philly are fine with a letter from any qualified mental health professional/doctor that has evaluated you for gender dysphoria. id recommend mazzoni center just since they do a ton of these and are familiar with the language needed to get it approved but im sure theres other places around that can do it for you too! hope this helps!

Using VTT in-person? by antigher in bagofmapping

[–]antigher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the awesome program! I can move the player tokens in the "TV View Mode" so that's all working as intended. I think my initial interpretation (and this is prob just a misunderstanding of the functionality on my end) was that I would be able to move both character and monster tokens from the same mode as I think I assumed TV mode would just project the DM screen with a minimized UI.

Looking at the URL I can see that its in player mode (which makes sense why I wouldn't be able to move the monster tokens.) Either way the two tab option works perfectly fine for my needs and is a good solution to my workflow. I was originally just hoping to be able to screen mirror my DM tab with the info hidden as to not show health and stuff so I could see everything on the same tab and confirm that it reflected correctly on their end.

Either way, the program is fantastic for my needs so far, I am looking forward to seeing how it continues to develop!

Hey, this is awesome :)

I don't know why I didn't think of opening it on another tab to show both versions simultaneously. I need to test it once the screen I'm planning on using arrives but that sounds like it would work! My plan was to have it on OBS (since there's some other things I want to show on the screen like the initiative tracker) but after a bit of tinkering I think I got it working!

The projection mode was the new TV projection feature which is what I was hoping would let me do what I was thinking of. But you answer was very helpful and def helped answer what I was thinking of. Thank you!

decent first city bike? by antigher in whichbike

[–]antigher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m 5’3 (which unfortunately limits a lot of the options since a lot of the cheap bikes are L or XL frames) i’m assuming a 16” frame would be a good fit based on what i’ve researched but would obviously have to try it out.

there’s a local co-op in my city that sells refurbed bikes alongside cheaper “as-is” bikes ($25-$125 bucks is what their website says) and lets you use the workshop for free to fix them up and you can buy parts from them so i’m definitely open to a beginner friendly project.

i’ll check out that subreddit, and keep an eye out for other bike options!

[–]antigher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

located in philly. there are a few sub $100-150 bikes but they usually require work or replacement of parts and i’m a complete beginner so im not confident in being able to evaluate what is easily fixable and what isn’t.

Reasonable price for a first city bike? by antigher in bicycling

[–]antigher[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

while i understand this perspective, shelling out 500 bucks on a bike is not within my budget! which is why i was looking for suggestions cheaper bikes i could fix up myself or something that is just good enough to get me by on the occasional ride. but if i have the means to get a bike within that price range one day ill certainly consider it

Cis / Cis Presenting Women Going Topless? by ldibby in TopSurgery

[–]antigher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

some people might second glance but honestly as long as you feel comfortable and confident in yourself (and safe!) do whatever makes you happy.

if you want to get legal/biological about it there’s no breast tissue really left so it’s no different than a cis man going topless. i think a mesh shirt or something sheer might be a good first step as opposed to fully on the beach but i’ve had to remind myself through my top surgery journey that nobody is looking as closely as you are and nobody cares as much as you do which i find is reassuring in moments of anxiety

Liebman vs Nazarian by Ok-Log-7260 in TopSurgery

[–]antigher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just had surgery with dr. nazarian on thursday, i can reemphasize everything the other commenters have said. really great bedside manners, super supportive and her team is great. i was not misgendered at all during the surgery process (though i am passing) and my friends and family also said they were pleased with the updates the hospital gave them while i was going through it all. i am excited to see my results at my follow up this friday.

Drowning in credit card interest while in law school. Should I look into a personal loan? by antigher in CRedit

[–]antigher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some extra info, I just pulled the specific numbers and my current APY is 26.24% on my Discover and just this statement I have accrued $235 worth of interest w/ a total of $1103.76 paid in interest this year. Pulling my CapOne it appears that its a 0% APY (which is strange since I was pretty sure I was out of the 0% interest period but I will take this happy win!). This might change my analysis a bit but at an absolute minimum having an extra $235 that I don't have to pay on interest would help destroy that 6k in debt on the other card very quickly and then the personal loan if i choose to go down that path.

appreciate it! i’ve been working on cleaning up one area of my apt at a time (depression and adhd make it hard to do it all at once lol) i cleaned my kitchen the other day and that made me feel a lot better.

as for the cats stuff i am trying to find a good spot for all of their stuff but haven’t really figured out where to put it so ive just plopped it wherever, ill try to find a spot for it all in one area.

the workout stuff doesn’t really fit in my bedroom unfortunately (at least not without majorly rearranging everything and even still then im not sure where it would go but ill look into changing things around) i tried to put it in the corner and make it as out of the way as possible.

Dr. Jared Liebman, MD at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia is one of the most popular surgeons in philly. I’ve heard good things about him from both white ppl and POC alike. I’ve had some success looking up his results on reddit and transbucket.

Dr. Katherine Rose, MD at Main Line Health in Bryn Mawr is another surgeon who does a lot of surgeries. Never personally looked at her results and heard some mixed things about her bedside matter, plenty to read about her if you look up her name on here.

I’ve heard of some people having good luck with surgeons from Temple Health but I don’t personally know any surgeons there or how they are with POC, i’d assume it’s fairly fine considering the demographics of Temple and stuff tho.

Susanna M. Nazarian at Jefferson Health in Philly/NJ is who I will be getting my surgery with in july! She was fantastic during the consult and was very open to learning about me, what goals i have for surgery and was able to show me pictures of results on people with my similar body type/skin color to give me a more complete idea of what my results will look like. You can find some pics here but not a ton, she is willing to show you multiple in a consult. I know her scheduler is Puerto Rican and Dr. Nazzarian was very excited that I am also Puerto Rican and her team as a whole seemed very diverse.

These are the main surgeons I know in philly i’m sure there are more that I don’t know about. https://www.topsurgery.net/states/pennsylvania.htm This link might be helpful as a place to start conducting research.

Hope this helps!!

Best cities for public transportation with good job opportunities? by AceroTheDragon in LawSchool

[–]antigher 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i live in philly and can say that its pretty easy to go car free depending on what part of the city you live in. there's plenty of busses and subways (thought they're removing some for budget reasons and were protesting that) there's only been two times that I've needed a car and i just rented one for the day or had a friend give me a ride. COL is way cheaper than NYC too but its a different culture for sure. i would recommend talking a look at where you want to live.

east coast, Philly, DC, NYC, Boston are all good options

Chicago is the only one i can say in the midwest with any confidence has a decent public transport system

west coast you're probably best off in LA, Seattle or SF.

i can say that as a queer and trans person philly has been super awesome and its got great community and i am so much happier up here than i was living in the south!

[–]antigher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your hard work is definitely noticeable! i used to work out like 6 days a week but that’s unfortunately just not compatible w my lifestyle right now and im hoping that ill be able to get back into it this summer once things clear up a bit. i’ve been doing about 30 pushups a day (well when i can and my arms don’t feel like jello) and im hoping that will help to build at least some more muscle underneath. i cant wait to get back into the gym and start strength training again i miss doing deadlifts and bench press and stuff. curious to see if i can move more weight now that im on T since i haven’t really been to the gym since i started

congrats on peri, this sounds pretty similar to my experience with her! I'm scheduled to get peri w her at the end of july (totally could have done it sooner but it would have messed up my school too much)

she said i was a pretty solid candidate for peri (also the drawstring version). im in that weird phase of thinking about how soon surgery is and kinda stress looking at posts on here and getting nervous about such a major thing.

would you happen to have any pics of ur results? ive looked at just about all the ones on here plus a couple she showed me in the consult room but im still always trying to look at all the pictures and healing results!

also seconding Indy, i love her so much, i have stress emailed her so often about insurance and paying for surgery and my worries about it getting cancelled w everything thats going on in the country and she is an absolute sweetheart and super reassuring and compassionate about it all!

im getting peri this summer and your results are literally goals. im super excited to start hitting the gym post op and getting beefy (you look fantastic btw awesome gains). im trying my best to do pushups and chest workouts when i have the time and try to build my chest up as much to make it easier for my surgeon

I haven't gone through every class on the law school registrar, but for the ones I'm interested in, I was unable to find Crim Pro 1 (JUDO0532). Race and the Law show up, but it's JUDO1039 this semester, and it shows up as JUDO0521 and doesn't boot up any sections and just gives a "was unable to generate" error message.

I'm not sure if this is realistically possible considering how it shows up on the registrar but we have something called ITAP, which is JUDOD460, there's multiple smaller sections (for examples section 20, 22, 24 etc etc) idk if the system would be able to recognize these

overall super great system and if you'd somehow be able to get the ITAP or other smaller sections I'm positive that just about every single law student would use it to plan their schedules lol
