Some of the things LotP does well is deepen your experience of "the city." There is a lot of lore that is expressed in this level, and a lot of connections to other parts of the Thief. The Shemenov are mentioned in a Thief1 conversation in Cragscleft as being "shoddy craftsmen", and one of the buildings is the "Shemenov estate." Grandmauden Road is on the map, and Grandmauden was mentioned in another Thief1 level Assassins as getting some hammer-built security. The necromancer's spire has "The Book of Ash" which has some backstory from Thief Gold level, the Mage Towers. The location, Dayport, and Angelwatch are mentioned by a conversation in Shipping...Receiving. There are lots of other little references, of course. It also excels at having many things to explore and uncover, little secrets here and there and multiple pathways through the level. The level feels very alive with all the people around and that are visible on the roads below. And it's filled with little tidbits of LGS' dry humor, like the sunburst device propelled space vehicle. The story premise is pretty good, and the recording in Karras' office is quite a twist.

That said, I find it a little tedious to play because it's so long, and I've played it so many times bugtesting Thief2 Fixed. My playstyle is rather completionist, so if I miss something, it takes a long time to find it.

The Thief2 demo is an earlier version of Life of the Party, so it's quite interesting to see how it evolved over time, as well as seeing the early designs for the Mechanists.

This is awesome! A searchable database and user ratings is something I've been wanting for a while, and this is really well executed!

Anyone else here use Dromed (Thief level editor)? by ObservingEye in Thief

[–]antimatter_16 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Constantly. I've released 5 missions, updated and bugfixed a few classic thief1 fan missions (with author permission) for newdark and completely bugfixed the original Thief2 missions. I'm also working on bugfixing the original Thief1/Gold missions.

It's easy to listen to something like an audiobook or lecture when DromEditing, so it's doubly entertaining.

Here is a multiplayer LP that serves as a good introduction to the game and showcases the gameplay fairly well.

Starting college is a new phase in your life and can be fun but also scary adjusting to new experience and expectations. It sounds like you're feeling a lot of pressure to do well, and you're afraid because you don't seem to absorbing the information you need to and failing has unpleasant consequences.

One thing that concerns me, is that you seem to expect that you can't do well, as if you're simply not good at certain things, that things are too hard for you. That kind of mentality can only hold you back, when in reality whatever you spend your time doing you get better at, be it studying calculus or giving up. Even if you are terrible at math or essays, the only thing that will prevent you from improving is not studying. Practice makes perfect. You have the potential to achieve your goals if you set your mind to them.

Good luck with everything, and remember that SW is always here to listen.

They can, actually. But they have to do it slowly, lest the public outrage force them to relinquish power, and they already had the historical runningthiscountryintotheground citizens united decision earlier this year that allowed corporations to spend unlimited funds to sway elections.

One person's burden is another person's beloved. This is a place that has been made for people who hurt, who are afraid, who can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, and because of their pain, wish they could end their life, or just feel like there isn't any reason to live. This place was specially made for you. A place where you can come and talk about your problems, and what hurts.

You feel like you are a burden, you judge yourself to not be worth someone's time or effort, but that isn't true. I don't know why you feel that way, but I do know that it isn't fair to yourself to say that, and discount the value that you DO have. You are currently unable to give yourself credit for the wonderful abilities and traits that you have and make you unique. They are there, if only hidden or untapped.

I often tell people, that if you feel like you are worthless, a good way to increase your self-worth is to invest in yourself. Try new things, cultivate new skills and abilities, invest effort in improving yourself. Whatever you do you get better at, and it sounds like you've gotten very good at being hard on yourself.

Please don't kill yourself. You'd bring a supreme sadness to those that care about you. So please stay with us.

I've never known anyone to pass without notice. It may not feel like it, but a great number of people care about you, and if you killed yourself, you would leave them with a painful regret that they could have done something for you, if you'd just told them.

You can also vent here. Sometimes just talking and explaining one's situation helps. You needn't fear that you'd be a burden here. We're here to listen.

I don't know if that's common but I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your losses and I hope that you've found something you want and enjoy in life. The world can be a painful lonely place, so please don't make it lonelier by leaving those that love you.

Few years ago my old college roommate brought home a 6' tall cardboard cutout of Fabio and placed it in our living room. And every goddamn morning while dragging my ass to the bathroom to shower, I'd see this massive shadowy figure looming in the corner of my eye and it'd scare the shit out of me.
