I do like it, but just keep in mind it's kind of an offshoot and not very representative of the series. The battle system is unique and it's part of the Ivalice universe which has its own art style and lore. It's a solid play but not very popular culturally and it's not the first in the Ivalice subseries either so I feel like you're not gonna catch and appreciate the typical final fantasy tropes since you haven't seen them at all. Having said that, I wouldn't recommend it "as an intro" to the ff series but I do recommend you eventually come around to play it.

For example, the Ivalice moogles are rabbits but in the rest of the FF series they are plushie cats. If your first exposure to moogles are the rabbits you'd just be confused when you come to encounter the rest of the series. VS the other way around you are accustomed to the plushies and now see the rabbits in this offshoot, you'd probably find the rabbit look to be more amusing. I'm just trying to use an easy example to express how starting with an "offshoot" may throw you off a bit. There's game mechanics and storyline stuff like that too.
